Thinking of ordering from Apex but you’re not a professional mechanic? Prepare to be treated like the second-class citizen you are. That is not a slam on LKQ - it’s just how it is. I needed a good used engine, and I got one (mostly - two of the camshafts were rusty, but the compression was good). Here’s the thing: LKQ (correctly) cares more about professional mechanics because that’s who will be coming to them every week, whereas you or I might buy an engine once a decade. So, when they tell you they’ll call you back, just accept that they won’t, and call THEM back. When you ask for a compression test to be done before they ship, know that it won’t be done - they’ll just ship it without telling you. Or if the compression test IS done, they won’t tell you until you call and bug them about it, and then you’ll find out for some reason only 3 of 6 cylinders were done and they all were magically the EXACT same number (they weren’t - I tested it myself later). Also, prepare to be laughed at when you ask how the labor warranty works… that’s only for “real” mechanics, not shadetree noobs like me and you. So, as long as you understand that most of the time they deal with people (“real” mechanics) who don’t REALLY care whether a part is in perfect condition as long as it sorta works, you’ll be reasonably happy. To be sure, everyone I spoke to was friendly enough, and tolerated my numerous questions well. I was however fully aware the entire time that I was trying everyone’s patience haha. Will I buy from LKQ again? Yes, now that I understand better how it works and what my expectations should be, it’ll be much smoother next time :)

Most salvages have to drain the gas by drilling a hole in the bottom of the tank. This is hard to patch successfully. LKQ had one in stock in Dallas. I had to wait a couple of days. It was worth the wait knowing that I wouldn't have a future gas leak.

Good people great products. The white guy made me pay ahead but they didn't require other customers to pay ahead. MAYBE BECAUSE I AM HISPANIC AND THEY DON'T TRUST ME. The part was good.
