LKQ Pick Your Part - Chula Vista (East) JunkYard Reviews
3.6 stars based on 30 reviews- CChristopher
Good yard. My only suggestion is when you type in the Make, it should include the RV's. because they have V8 engines that many customers want. Too bad the yard just to the West closed. I've spent many dollars at LKQ.

I’m usually not one to leave bad Reviews, this may be the 2nd time in my 8 years of leaving reviews that I’ve done so, but This place left me with such a bad taste in my mouth I need to warn others. As others have said, for a place that makes you pick your own part and offers little to no help, whether it’s tools or sense of direction, when it comes to quality of service, there is none. If I could give this place A zero then I would. They are highly overpriced and Rude. After taking the part I needed , they charged me for the connector pieces that hold the part into place. Things that would naturally come with the part to install it. On top of that. they do not disclose this price until after you have gone through the pain of removing the part yourself and bringing it to the front. There are 100 reviews just like mine and it’s not for no reason . THIS PLACE IS A SCAM. They are Shady, rude, and lack common courtesy. They can reply how they want to these reviews and sound nice, but when you are there in person none of that matters to them, only how much money they can get from You. It would honestly be cheaper and less of a hassle to just order your part online .

I spent 45 minutes taking the item apart and when I got to the register, the item was priced at $41 dollars! A lady tells the cashier to cancel the whole transaction and took the item in the back! When she same out, the prices was changed from 41 dollars to $84 dollars!! So the bad reviews about this one place is actually true!! Will go to Oceanside next time!! Hopefully there’s no incompetent/dishonest people at the register!!! Remember people comes from different walks of life and occupation. I just happen to have colleagues within OSHA and EPA! You catch my drift!!

I was able to sell my broken down Volvo to Pick Your Part . The process was very easy, with first phone call a friendly lady on the phone looked up the VIN and told me over the phone they can pay around $400 for it. Or they can send a tow truck to pick it up and take off $60 or $80 , but still a good deal. I had the car gone from my driveway in afternoon the same day. If you have complete car and the documents of ownership it's a good place to sell your broken down car.

They will take anything that you might leave in your bag by mistake, and when you say something they will put hands on you and gang up on you . They use their sign posted as a reason to do this. Then threaten you with calling the cops. I now think and feel that even if you leave a nut or bolt in you bag that they will be at you up for it. I now feel that they will do anything they want if you are on their property. I will no longer buy anything from there for fear of violence from the employees. They are out of control. They use that sign as a reason to invade your person and take what ever they want from you.

“Pick Your Part” more like “Waste Your Day.” Was trying to sell my junk car to them, got a quote, and a THREE HOUR window appointment for the next day. Was told that “I would receive a call an hour before they would be ready to pick up the next day.” Got a call at 11:44am that rang once and immediately ended when I tried to answer. Tried to call back, nothing, immediately disconnected. Called their main number and got told by (likely a 3rd party call center) that they did call and that I should meet them in an hour. Went to the pickup location within that hour, no call. Gave them the benefit of the doubt and waited 30 min before calling. Called at 1:15pm, 45 minutes before the pickup window was closed. Was told that I needed to wait and be patient and that it was still within the 11am-2pm window. Waited til 2pm and called again, the call center called the office for me and said “they would call me back in a few minutes.” I waited 20 and called back at 2:20pm and told them they were 20 minutes over my 3 hour pickup window and that they’re wasting my time at this point. Was told he “emailed the office and they’d be getting back to me.” Told there was no manager or way for me to contact the office directly. Complete waste of time, lies, and false promises. I fulfilled my end of the deal and Pick Your Part could care less. Go elsewhere

BE WARNED, THEY DO NOT TELL YOU & CHARGE FOR WARRANTIES! Two days ago I was at another location $700 in parts & not one warranty auto applied, or added unless requested. This location, they didn't ask or say anything but charged for warranties I DID NOT WANT! Then refused to help me when I immediately returned to the window with my recipt. A little decency in ASKING before charging people for things THEY DONT WANT, would go a long way.

Pick Your Part wasted my time TWICE. I had a pick-up scheduled and then they called after the timeframe passed and told me the driver had called out and that they had to reschedule. Then I took time off work to accommodate the only open time window available the next day… just to be cancelled on again at the end of the time window, claiming two tow-trucks broke down. I’ve now waited for 6 hours for nothing. Very frustrating and very disappointing. EDIT - PYP Cancelled a THIRD time. Don’t waste your time or effort, find another company.
- HHoward Gonya
Don’t waste your time coming here. Brought my son who just turned 16 years old 2 weeks ago and wouldn’t let him in without ID. Spoke to the manager and she wouldn’t let him pass. Next time state that on your website and not waste my time driving all the way over here for nothing. It’s ok won’t bring my business to this crappy junk yard anyways.

This yard is huge. It has a lot of inventory. Section…. Row… Inventory number 1264 - 12345. Bilingual Speakers. Map of the area. They sell lifetime warranty Car Battery They sell used tires, wheels, Alternator, Starters, A/C Compressor, autobody parts Entrance fee is 3 dollars Prices are reasonable and there are a few items that you have to pay a core charge. The Primo Side requires another $ 2 dollar charge.
- GGarden senpai
Communication was good but if u want them to pull it it's a additional 19.95 bought a alternator for 58 and some change. HOWEVER, WHEN I CAME IN I HAD A NET IN MY POCKET SO I CAN BRING MY PART OUT WITHOUT HURTING MY ALREADY FKD UP SHOULDER. That in my opinion is u taking my stuff. Theft of my property and I even explained it why I had it yall took it. Theives

Was already in San Diego so made the 30 min drive there. Would’ve been 2 hours if I wasn’t already in the area. I get the the lot and there is great attitude to start. I grab all of the stuff I need and I was expecting between $30-$50 for 2 side view mirrors with no electronic completely manual and one taillight. Nope $107. Insane!! I ended up paying because I was there and I might as well. There was a 90 day warranty on the side view mirrors that I was never informed of. Just charged for it never told there was a warranty and when I asked if I could get a refund for warranty they said no the parts have already been bought. The 3 items I bought USED I could have bought brand new for $120 online. Scammers and a waste of time, junkyards r supposed to be a cheap alternative and I got swindled.
- AAndie Cabrera
I'm trying to get a hold of a representative but all I get is the answering machine. I just want to know about an engine price of a 2013 dodge charger 3.6 6 cylinder
- PPepe Duarte Jurado
Good car inventory , but you have to get there quick , and get your spares before they gone, they don have discount like other yards from the same company, but no complaints I find my parts, bring your tools , and don’t ask many questions to the employees, when is the next car coming or can you pulled for me, they don’t know
- RRafael Orrantia
There's really no customer service, no assistance by phone. And website it's way to limited, if you want to see if they have the parts you need, you'll have to spend half day there searching for your self, and probably not finding it...
- JJacob K
Sometimes the best way to win is not to play. As a volume buyer, this particular location will be boycotted until January 2026 (1-year). When the management decides to make improvements on prices, core fees, and overall yard conditions(more carts, paved or areas covered with more gravel) and give respect to their regulars, then normal business will resume. Unfortunately until then, they can kick rocks.
- JJared Rieg
Way over priced for used items. Try amazon before going here. For a 2003 mirror and windows stripping 90 bucks found everything on Amazon for half the price.
- CCesar S
Like everyone else says, they charge you whatever the part would cost new, plus extra fees.
- KKevin
I am grateful for Pick Your Part. I know I've probably saved thousands of dollars getting parts from them than anywhere else. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars was because every time I go there there is usually a long line to check out, today there was a line to get in as well. They always seem to be understaffed. Being that they are so popular and have been around for a very long time, I imagine they are financially stable enough to hire some more people. I have no complaints other than that. If they eventually get that problem resolved, then I'll give them 5 stars.

I want to get some a bumper for my car. After you paid the entrance fee, they will charge you more to see the cars. All cars are in a mess, it's very difficult to find the car you want. Although they first claim they have the car I need, I find that there are only very old cars and they refuse to help me find it. Their price can be very expensive, some are even almost the price of new part. When I get out, they even searched through my backpack to see if I get something not paid. I want to sue then for the violation of my privacy!
- JJames with the Jeep
PLEASE DO NOT COME HERE!!! DO NOT GIVE THIS PLACE YOUR BUSINESS!!! Got off work and drove an hour through traffic to get all the way here at 4pm AN HOUR BEOFRE THEY CLOSED so I could pull one thing just for them to walk out and close right in front of me because “it’s raining so we have to close early” seriously? Every experience I’ve ever had here has been bad but this seals the deal. Find another way to get parts because this place will rip you off with hidden fees, talk to you like you don’t understand the part you just pulled, and close whenever they feel like it no matter how long you’ve waited for parts to finally show up. This place deserves to sink in its own failure and become deserted, or at least it needs new management to actually care about the people that come here. Again PLEASE DO NOT COME HERE!!!
- AAdriana Hughes
Couldn't agree more with the negative reviews below. This place have gone from bad to worse and I will be glad when they go bankrupt. I miss the old Pick your part before 2018 which is when the downfall began, whoever took charge of this company after that date killed this great business, what an horrendous and incompetent new management. I was a customer for 20 years but not anymore, the cashiers and the managers have been ultra rude for the past 5 years and now they're charging you for even the smallest screw, not to mention that they treat you like you were some disgusting criminal, prices are so high now that it doesn't make sense to go anymore, a seat and a bumper and your bill can be almost $500, utterly ridiculous. The yard is a complete mess and the cars are super disorganized, they can't even put Mercedes with Mercedes and Chryslers with Chryslers. Amazed by their level of incompetence, greed and their willingness to deceive you, never seen anything like it in any business ever.
- MMichael Mohr
Useless. Inventory on the app isn't accurate so you'll end up wasting time driving down here only to walk away empty handed. Then they won't refund your entry fee despite their misleading and inaccurate app. Hard pass
- JJose Romero
They didn’t answer they just hang up
- JJean Anchia
Pick your part they are natzy's they will nice and dime you every step of the way their prises are super hi now the 2 mexican woman that they have in the front cashier have a very bad attitude I purchase a side step for my truck and they over charge me they wanted me to pay for the bolts like $30 my advice is if you go in the steal as mouch stuf as you can because they will do it to you
- jjohn lucier
These guys are flat out swindlers. They tack on extended warranty fees but dont divulge this if you ask for an itemized breakdown of your bill. On top of that the prices they charge are 33% higher than those they list on their website. They think they can get away with these shady practices because youve already done the work pulling the part. You can get the same parts for half what these thieves charge on ebay without even getting dirty. Dont bother comparing prices on their website, they never sell them that low. Update: note how despite detailed reviews from customers specifying exactly what their complaint was, the owner replies lamely, "can you contact us and let us know?" as if he cares. They just took time to write a review, can you not read? Of course you can, you just want to give the appearance of caring.
- NNatan Borges
Horrible customer service, rude employees, messy yard compared to other yards I’ve been to. Disorganized and zero support and they tackle on hidden fees without your consent like the warranty fee which is optional but they didn’t tell me at the time of charging me and when I noticed the price was significantly higher than stated online I asked if I could see all the fees before paying and the cashier declined and said that I would have to pay first to see it. They have a no return policy also. I had to contact an attorney to speak to a guy there just to return the product. In the end all those fees they tackle you’re better off buying new for cheaper
- JJohn H
I like being able to pull my own parts. I am done with this yard though. I checked online for the price of a front seat for one of my cars. When I got to the check out, the price was $50 more than the price on the website. When I tried to ask a native English speaker about it, he yelled in my face that there was nothing he could do. I left the seat right there and walked out. Never going back.
- NNick Anda
Beware you will pay more for there incompetence, charge you warranty fee each time, taking picture stamping letters and numbers but they don't really keep track, that song and dance is to charge more for a bogus warranty charge and for you to never return, we returned a motor for another one since they didn't give us the red tag because of there incompetence we missed out, 700.dollars. i never review ever bad things but Wow! the incompetence is at its highest level there. or they just prey on the working man. so disappointed on them.
- CC St (Greasemonkey)
3 months ago I bought a couple of small pieces of rocker panel like 10 in Long each and I paid $10 a piece and you know I'm good with that. I went in today and they wanted to charge me $160. So he needs to say you better ask what they're going to charge before you bother to even come. They contacted the manager and he actually increased the price from the cashier. So don't go to them if you want any kind of metal off the frame. Go to an upscale wrecking yard these guys are no longer the dollar store wrecking yard. Been going there for 15 years 20 years I won't go back again.
