DON’T come here if you’re a girl. Came here running an errand for my friend to sell scrap metal. Have always been told this place gives a good amount for scrap metal, all of mine was completely clean sheets and chunks, leftover from jewelry making, a pretty hefty box. some sheets even had the store price still on it (ranging 60-80$) I left with 15$. I knew I wasn’t going to get even half of what it was worth, but this felt like an actual joke. The guy at the counter laughed and said here’s some lunch money 😂 Joke is on me for trusting that they would be fair. When I got home I was told I should not have accepted that, but the way it works is you have no idea what you’re going to even get for it until you have already given it away to someone in the back never to be seen again. At that point it was gone, and I had basically donated it. Gave my friend 100$ because I felt terrible that I got scammed out of SO MUCH METAL and couldn’t do anything about it. do better👎🏼 Update to reflect the response from the business: there were more than 2 different types of metal, as I tried to explain to the man weighing it, he seemed to acknowledge it. If it was a material not normally accepted, or being placed under the weight of another type of metal, i would have just kept it. would not have mattered if i said something the day of, wouldn’t have gotten the metal back anyways.
Garbage. No pun intended brought in 1380pds of light steel got 104 bucks. Brought in 2810 pounds of aluminum copper ac condenser scrap same price as light steel. Scam artists. Scale operator doesn't know how to take license and scale in a truck. Completely disappointed in Lajoies whole operation on 2 visits. Ill drive to new haven to see Sims metal management before Jim wastes my time on freaking hand shake. Again.
Some of these reviews are pretty outrageous. I've purchased a part through them. Not only was the guy super helpful but they also delivered it to the shop. All around great service.
