Darrah's Automotive-Recycling JunkYard Reviews
3.3 stars based on 30 reviews- KKim Jones
35 bucks for a jump! Don't feel bad for tow truck drivers or owners. They rip people off on a daily basis! They take in the dough. It was picked up running why not when I pick up! York township police should not use them rip offs. It only reflects back on you! If inflicting the most hurt to people is your goal...You do your job well! Thank you for your unwanted services.

If I could give them negative stars I would. Towed by the police after my car was stolen and wrecked. Guy starts screaming at us after I had called and the lady told me I could get my belongings out of the car. He left them came back and started screaming at us again, as well as an elderly woman who was there at the same time. Maybe, if they don't want people walking into the junk yard, they should have a gate with an automatic door that opens and closes, better signage and explain to people where they should go. Their office looks like a house, is a number of buildings down from the entrance of the junk yard, and the GPS didn't take us to the office, it took us to the junk yard so how were we to know where to go.? Not only that but once we were in our car leaving, another guy came up yelling at us. You're a business, having your employees screaming at people isn't it. Completely horrible.

Awesome, their pickup timing was great. I called them, and they were able to tow the vehicle within 30 minutes from the time I called. Thank you.

This is my wife...Never would i ever recommend them, let’s start with i was in my first car accident not my fault and my car was towed by them i did not know where to send my car so i figured i would have my car sent there. Well, since the police said they were in contract with them i thought they were great. The guy who towed my car was great and very nice. BUT my car sat there for a week until insurance got back to me. They called and i said i was waiting for an adjuster to come out and look at my car. They took it as an okay to fix my car. When i got done with insurance and found out the repairs i wanted to move my car. THE LADY SCREAMED AT ME ON THE PHONE. And i have witnesses who heard this nonsense. So i gave in being naive and being a woman and let them just fix my car. Well a few days later i get my car back. It was in worse condition than before my accident. My cv axle was broken supposedly from prior and my tie rod. Mind you zero noise before hand. Then, i am told by my mechanic nothing new was replaced where the damage was that it was all used products. The paint job is horrible there is paint all over my “new” bumper. Please do not ever take your car here or you will have the worse experience and worst customer service brought to man. I wish i believed the reviews and have wished i just paid them what they wanted so i could move my car. My car should have been totaled and it wasn’t. Don’t go here

My grandson's car was towed there last Friday night and every time I spoke the them on the phone they have been very helpful and very pleasant. Both girls in the office are very nice and knowledgeable. When we went back today to clean out the car the gentleman that took us back to the car was very helpful and friendly.

I had to have my car towed and have two tires and a rim replaced. After calling a different tow business and a different tire shop, both of which were unprofessional in response to my "emergency" situation (one of them even laughed), I called Darrah's. The female who answered was completely professional and helpful. They towed the vehicle and made all repairs in a prompt manner and at an affordable rate!! I absolutely recommend their services.

Biggest joke of a business ever. Ended up getting screamed at about picking up my own vehicle and hauling it away. Ladies behind the counter are nasty crazy people. Not to mention the outrageous tow bill from one part of york city to another. You guys are a joke. Dude that was there was another work of art. Screaming at me saying it's illegal to sell your own catalytic converter even though it is titled in my name. That business needs shut down. Hell I'm sure that if I would have sold my van to them they probably would have given me like a dollar for it. Screw that place.

Upon arrival of asking the individuals about a vehicle I was told two different amounts less then four minutes within a conversation. That goes to show you that many say things they can't recall seconds later. Furthermore this individual persuaded to leave the business to make false accusations. There will be a lawsuit coming. This place is unfair unfortunately unfriendly also extremely corrupt thank God for hidden cameras. My advice is take your business elsewhere. From a legal point if view. I can assure you that this business won't be around for the next 5 years.

This is the only interaction I've ever had with this company but the customer service was far and away the absolute worst I have encountered in my entire 34 years of adult life. And that includes the DMV and our internet provider! $70 a day storage fee? Really? I called to discuss why my daughter was charged $486 for her car to be parked on this company's lot and, after being transferred from someone who was quite terse, was met with outright hostility from the female co-owner. She was angry before I had spoken a word to her. She defended her actions by saying she had deducted a weeks worth of 'storage' fees for my daughter and I stated that that was appreciated. She then commenced to berate my daughter for not contacting them for a week and that was what the $486 charge was for. She then proceeded to offer parenting advice to me and what I should have done to get my daughter to contact them sooner. She never gave me a chance to offer any explanation. As if I really need to defend myself when I was merely calling to determine what this excessive charge was for! That continued and went right into her story of her 2 kids in college and what she did to give them direction in a similar circumstance. As if I should follow her example because, between her and I, she is clearly the superior parent. The evidence speaks for itself, after all! I was disgusted by her tone and volume and told her that I had not raised my voice to her even once hoping to calm her down a tad. It did not help. She told me that my daughter knew that they charged storage fees when she brought the car to them. Pretty sure that's not quite the truth as she never would have taken it there because of those fees. She had just had an accident. She was shaken up. She's a struggling, young college student scrambling to support herself while going to school, after all, and this was a real blow. It doesn't matter. This company has property taxes to pay. Which this business owner kindly (not so kindly, actually) asked if I'd like to pay. So I thanked her for her time and she thanked me for my thanks and we bid farewell. Not sure how this company can stay in business with customer interactions like this. If I could rate this business with less than one star I would.

I scrapped a car at this company's location last week. I feel like they ripped me off with what they gave me for the car. They deducted money off for bs reasons and appeared shady as a result. Not the first time I dealt with them and felt this way. I would not recommend going back to them again
- sshyra marbra
This company overcharged me for towing my car a few streets away and they took two days to give me an estimate on the damage. When I finally received the cost for the repairs, it was extremely high for a headlight repair and when I decided to recycle the vehicle with them they failed to mention all the fees they charged me for storage, towing, and labor. I ended up paying them instead of recieving compensation for my nearly new vehicle. COMPLETE RIP OFFS, DO NOT GO THERE!!
- CChrista Weyant
This place is absolutely awful! My vehicle was towed here, and upon entering one if the employees was yelling and swearing at who I assume was his manager. She also yelled back at him. In addition to the gross lack of professionalism, the place is junky, with a loose board on the front porch and trash everywhere. I'm sure they dont care, though. The folks behind the barred front desk seemed equally as unprofessional and like they could have cared less about what impression they were giving.
- bbribassguy
Worst tow company on planet. Mean, unpleasant, and unhelpful. Avoid at all costs. They act high and mighty b/c they have a contract with York City. My car was stolen and they "recovered it." They disconnected my transmission linkage and dragged car to impound. Made me appear in person to Pay $230 bill to have car towed less than 5 miles. Zero understanding for my situation after explaining that I had transportation b/c they had my stolen car.

I was visiting a friend and parked in the parking lot by his 2nd fl. apartment, which he said was for tenants/guests and patrons of the business his apartment was over. After 2 1/2 hours, I was leaving but my car was not where I had parked it. Found out the landlord did not know whose car (only car on the entire lot),it was, and he had it towed, instead of checking with his tenant to see if it belonged to anyone visiting him. Eventually, the landlord learned of his mistake and I was told I could get my car from Darrah's. After hearing that cars towed there often had items missing and even parts missing, and reading other reviews, I was apprehensive at the least. However, My car was fine and was as I had parked it, with no visible parts missing and no damage. And the lady being taken care of when I arrived, seem very happy with her business transactions there also. So, everything seemed to be okay. (Sigh of Relief)

Due to my mistake, my car ended up at Darraha's impounded.. While the vehicle as not in my possession the vehicle was robbed. I spoke with a woman in the office. She said that she already checked the cameras and called me back. I believe she was thinking of someone elses situation as this never happened. Anyway, I made my situation known & upon further details of what I found missing from my purse, including very personal and prescription items, I was told I would received a return call. I never received this call. The overall experience before the discovery of theft was decent. The woman I dealt with in the office was kind to me. My problem remains in limbo & I do not wish to deal with being told that da, da, da. I hope this helps someone else. It has been since may 22nd which I made the theft known, perhaps a few days later, but regardless a call regarding a theft of nearly $600.00 + should have been handles better. Thank-You for the opportunity to post a public review. I hope this makes it better for others, as I sit here & believe I now write about a lost cause. Not BBB Accredited Business

I was towed to the lot and it was a traumatic experience, I want to thank the ladies in the office again for being personable and professional. Being towed isn’t anyones ideal experience, the ladies in Darrahs office were honest and fair. Again I thank you for your integrity, I will recommend Darrah’s Automotive-Recycling again and again!!

If you enjoy being screamed at and cussed at well you found the right place. Worse customer service, horrible people. This place needs to be shut down.
- DDavid Haight
Not fancy but super reasonably priced and good quality paint work. I've had several vehicles and motorcycles painted by Darrah's. (I have also had state inspections and related jobs done many times,)
- LLequilla English
The prices are outrageous! Highway robbery!!! If I could rate this business with less than one star I surly would! The customer service at this place is very unprofessional, very rude and, disrespectful! Anyone who gives this place a good review has be family or friends! I would never recommend this place to anyone!
- LLiz Smith
My Honda Accord Touring's fender was replaced and the paint was touched up on the car. The car looks brand new. The people were very professional and answered my questions. I was provided with a quote in minutes.
- JJacqueline Sutherland Molina
First of all there was no parking so I had to walk far from my car. I went two different days and was giving an annoying turn around. Then, to top it off I waited for so long for the guy to bring my stuff. I'm quite disappointed in the service
- CCon MaC
Don’t show up before they close or they’ll complain about everything. Terrible lazy service. Three people standing around while only one person helped. If you don’t know what you have they’ll treat you like you’re stupid.
- MMia Duke
Awful customer service, my car was stolen from, and was charged almost $300 when my car was there only 2 days (way more than $30 a day as originally claimed). I would rather push my car myself than ever use this company ever again.
- WWayne Gibson
Good experience getting rid of old junker. Its not something people do everyday and they can explain and get you thru it very nicely.
- JJoy Miller

- CConnor McCullough
Never been to any business that treated customers so bad. You’d think they’d be grateful to have business but all they did was complain.
