Capital City towing is the company my apartments use to have illegally parked cars towed. They are a godsend when my complex has them tow a car parked illegally in the handicap area.

Capital City Tow drivers have been courteous and quick at getting the cars towed when they have been contacted. They will only tow when it is a visible violation of the law or if the apartments have contacted them.

I have a legal handicap permit with a documented medical condition and a ADA accommodation with my apartment. I am often unable to park in the handicap spot nearest the easiest access to my apartment due to people parking in the marked off space between the handicap spots, moving trucks loading and unloading in that space or parking in the HC spot with out a visible HC placard or license plate. In addition to the fact that Door Dash or other similar delivery people pull into those spaces to make their deliveries.

I see many complaints of those whose car get towed by them for parking illegally in apartment parking lots and I know with those complaints, that the tow would never have happened had people had exercised due diligence in knowing they are parking illegally or not just assuming no one will notice or need said spot.

Often when I have spoken to people, usually delivery drivers when they pull into those spaces, the first thing they say is “It will only take a couple minutes.” It may seem like a couple minutes to them isn’t a big deal, but to someone who has a handicap and has very few spaces to park that accommodates them, it takes eons. Why? Because we have to drive around and wait for the spot, park elsewhere that makes it more difficult for us or cannot get into our cars or leave due to being blocked by said violators of the HC parking laws.

HC parking is a backed by law to protect the disabled yet we have no recourse when someone violates those laws and parks in a spot designated for us. In my case, I have to contact my apt complex, have them assess the situation, try to contact owner before calling for a tow. I have missed appointments and been late to places due to these HC parking violators. Often they are repeat offenders of illegally parking in handicap areas.

The violators make complaints re: the tows because they feel they were targeted by “predatory tow” rather than admitting they are “predatory parking violators.”

Towed my vehicle last night from the old Des Moines train station. When I called last night for the reason why. I got after midnight they tow away for the farmer's market. Which that was not properly signed. Most spots in that area have no signs notifying people or the signs are mostly destroyed. I only found 1 that was in tacked far from where I parked at. When picking up my vehicle. I was then told it was towed for unauthorized parking. Very shade and predatory practices. City of Des Moines should be ashamed for having a contract with this company to rip off their citizens.

Worse experience ever. I live in an apartment complex that has a contract with them. Doesn't matter where you put your sticker on the windshield they may or may not tow your car per contract. It's not first time my car been looked at real hard. Can't tow a U Haul taking up serval parking spots, parked side ways in front of an apartment building or other double parked vehicles however per maintenance men that are a 24/7 service and having theirs and the apartments, contract they will tow a car, double parked, in a snow covered parking lot where lines can barley be seen, away from all other parked cars. Fun fact, they pick and choose who they tow because my neighbors have double parked in front of our building and this tow company has not touched their car. . I do think it is because I am white that they only seeked out my van and argued a ridiculous 'traffic violation'. They need a man to intimidate a angry female asking receptionist questions about their job and their contract with the apartments. Good luck. **Watch my review is gonna get a snide response.**

Update: The black SUV notorious for double parking. The silver car is currently double parked but I guarantee you it will not get towed, it will be there tomorrow in the same exact spot. But mine got towed in a snowy parking lot. Smh.
