“⭐ 1-Star Review for Owens Scrap Metal Inc (Latimer, MS) I’ve been going to Owens Scrap Metal for nearly 20 years, and after today, I’ll never be back. This place has always been hard to deal with—rude customer service, unorganized operations, and unfair pricing. Despite being a licensed HVAC technician with my EPA card on file, they consistently made me wait multiple days just to get paid for AC coils—something other scrap yards handle same-day without issue. The staff act like they hate being there, and treat customers like an inconvenience. Asking a simple question gets you attitude. Needing a basic accommodation gets you talked down to. Today was the final straw. I brought in two HVAC coils—just like I’ve done many times before—and they refused to buy them just because I wasn’t in the same vehicle as usual. No help, no solutions—just another example of this business wasting my time without care. Over the years, I’ve also been shortchanged on scrap prices, especially with non-ferrous metals like copper and aluminum. They count on you not knowing the market value so they can offer less. I’ve likely lost hundreds, if not more, trusting them to be fair. That was my mistake. Their operation is dirty, their attitudes are worse, and their professionalism is non-existent. There are much better scrapyards nearby that will treat you with respect, pay you fairly, and value your time. Avoid Owens if you can. They’ve been getting away with this behavior for far too long.”
