The tone of the mans voice and his non interest in my problem will make me never call again. He actually sounded angry that I called initially.

Spoke with Dave over the course of a week about my truck having a few issues. Now I’m not auto savvy so I couldn’t explain the issues to him in I guess the manner he wanted. I have an older truck which had what I thought where starter issues I explained them he said they could be fuel pump issues he needed more specifics I tried to explain the behavior the truck did and he mentioned that the fuel pump issue was gonna take a lot more time and cost $50 mind you I explained this last Thursday to Dave when we set the appointment which he did not even remember my name or anything and almost didn’t remember the whole appointment itself. From there He proceeded to get very angry and say he would erase me from the schedule and made a comment about “working for free” and “do you work for free”. After looking through the reviews I see a common theme to Dave’s approach to service “single moms” and I happen to be a single dad and the first interactions with him where just as unprofessional as this one. There is no mechanic like Dave. I come down from Portland because his expertise and honesty can’t be beat. He is a realist about which repairs are necessary, he makes my old car run like a dream and he and Marty are incredibly kind to boot. I feel so lucky to access both these awesome mechanics and I send all my friends to Dave’s.

Repaired my fly-wheel, not replaced and did an excellent job for $1000 less. The repair has lasted with no issues for already 60k more miles! I recommend him to everyone and all have been happy. I have only had one issue when one of his mechanics listed too much labor and that was corrected.

We were travelling through McMinville and had some car trouble. We quickly Googled service stations in the area and noticed that Dave had a high rating and was nearby. He quickly diagnosed our problem and we were on our way within an hour. Even though he was in the middle of helping other customers, he took the time to help us right away. We were expecting to have to wait for at least a few hours before we could resume our trip so we were pleasantly surprised to get such quick service.

I had my car die and took my car promptly to Dave's. I was told he is a man of integrity, kindness, and great wisdom. That was monday. I understood he was busy and said waiting till Wednesday would be fine. He has fixed my car in the past and been such a lifesaver. This time was different. This time he yelled at me in front of my tow truck driver, son, His girlfriend and 1 other man in the lot. When he mentioned battery possibly, I offered to go get one and he tossed my key at me stating that it I wanted to fix it then why was I there. I left triggered and sobbing. I got my carr that night, (single mom with 2 kids and 1 car, so we just came home from the traumatic day) the next morning the starter he charged nearly $300 for began screeching and chugging on my second start. It did not do that when I drove home. I has a nuerosurgeon appt the next day and waited to call him until after to report that it screeched starting anf smelled horrible taking my daughter to school. He mentioned having time on Wednesday. So I popped over around 11:45 am with my coworker as a wittness and he angrily said he needed to take lunch at 11:30 and suggested I look at the time. I'm easy going so I just said I'd bring it back, trying to not relive Monday's anger outburst. I spoke with Mrty last might who said it was weird that I took it home and all of the sudden it had issues, I felt that was an accusatory statement as Dave made the same one during my 11:45 pop in. I told Marty that I didn't want to upset Dave, which I don't, I'm the most understanding person alive. That I had a mechanic in Turner who heard me start it and atated it sounded like a bad part.I am Single social worker mom, believe me I understand stress but I'm always kind because you dont know what others may be dealing with in their real lives. I'll be taking it Friday morning and dropping it off as I work. Im praying it starts quietly after they look at it and that he isnt mad as me for bringing it in. It cost nearly 300 dollars and I work for a nonprofit so that is a lot. I used to love Dave's but now I feel scared to call or go in, but thankfully more afraid to walk with a bad spine on my cane 2 miles to work and to kids schools. I pray they make it right and i will make sure to tell them not to add debt into what they do. If all is made right, all delete this review and let it go. I get it. People have bad days, weeks, months and yearsmine isnt the greatest right now, and that is why I took it to dave knowing I would be cared for as would my car. We shall see how tomorrow goes and if this can be deleted. I dont want anyone to feel as downtrodden and heartbroken as I did on Mondau and do as I start my car while working and taking kids to school/appts. I'm giving him a chance to redeem himself and I hope that whatever got a bee on his bonnet is gone and he can see that I'm just a mom who works hard to help our community and my children live better lives, so I mean no harm. I just want my car to be running okay.

I've been bringing my cars to Dave's since 2003. Not only is the service, the turn around time, and the repair work top notch, Dave operates his business with transparency. He's personally shown me every repair he's done on my vehicles and I've learned a lot about how cars work! Also, he's done small machining and soldering work before to help keep costs down for me.
