Posting this so others know what they may be dealing with. My car was towed on 12/8/2025 from Sutter Street in Folsom during Christmas event setup. I understand it was a posted tow-away zone and I take responsibility for parking there.

What I don’t agree with is the $750 charge to get my car back. Based on 2025 national pricing from The Zebra, the average cost for a basic tow is about $109, and standard vehicle storage typically runs $30–$80 per day. Even accounting for towing and short-term storage, a reasonable total would normally be a few hundred dollars. Charging $750 for a routine tow and brief hold is price gouging.

There was nothing unusual about this tow—no accident, no recovery, no special equipment—yet the charges were several times higher than what’s typical both nationally and locally.

I left my car overnight specifically to avoid drinking and driving. Being penalized this severely for making a responsible decision was frustrating.

I’ve requested a tow hearing through Folsom PD and also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau so these pricing practices can be reviewed. I’m posting this to warn others. Fair and transparent pricing matters, and this was not that.

Hope you never have to deal with this place. I was going to call it a business but it's more like an Outfit or a Racket, ya know, like a just barely legal crime organization. They (somehow staying just within the definition of the word) "legally" steal you property and then hold it ransom like a hostage negotiation. If you can't come up with the demanded amount of money "Ransom" (which increases the longer you make them wait) then kiss your property goodbye.

They took my vehicle and my trailer(which was pad-locked to my car with $2000 worth of my tools on it. I assume by cutting the lock off the hitch) from where it was "Legally" parked on private property. There was no attempt made to notify me prior to the tow at all on that day. And there was no notice posted on the vehicle when it was parked 55 mins before being towed. They towed it based on the word of a new property manager with a chip on its shoulder and a personal vendetta that will more than likely be losing its job very soon.

California law states that all personal property may be retrieved with vehicle owners authorization without having to pay any fees of anykind. My vehicle was loaded with important personal possessions and tools as I was in the middle of moving along with my trailer full of all the tools I need to make money on a daily basis. Yet these crooks refused to allow me to retrieve anything from my vehicle or the trailer due to the fact that I couldn't afford to replace the catalytic converter and pass a smog check thus having expired tags. There is "no law" stating anything about being forced to pay any back registration just to retrieve personal property. There is however a law that states owner may take all personal property without paying ANY FEES OF ANY KIND !!

In my opinion, this company is made up of crooked, shady individuals that are taking advantage of people that are struggling financially and on the verge of being homeless without an ounce of consideration for the people they are hurting or the situation he or she may be in.
I didn't commit a crime, I was not hurting anyone. I was simply parked with out of date tags because I couldn't afford to repair my car just yet.

I called local police which came out and spoke to me and after speaking with the most unpleasant tow yard representative the officer told me that "it sounded like a civil matter" and recommended I " file a lawsuite against this company". I have been in contact with the States Attorney Generals Office and that's all I can say at this point .

I would not willfully conduct business with this extremely unethical organization (Racket) and it's employees if I had a choice.
You have been warned.

My driver was Mr M. I just want to say Thank you for being punctual and so helpful, making sure the dealership and the tire store understood what happened to my vehicle and what I needed help with. You went above and beyond and I fully appreciate your assistance and attentiveness.
