I wanted to say thank you to Al for helping us get the right tires for our 2024 Blazer. The continental tires that came on the car wore out long before their lifespan. Al helped us settle on the Michelin Cross Climate and they are great! Smoother ride and also quieter. I was surprised on the pricing as well, competitive with the big box stores. Whole experience was great and I highly recommend Al and the team for anyone’s tire or vehicle service needs!

" Tried to save money with a Costco discount, but the independent shop was not cheaper than the dealer"<br><br>I took my Volvo XC60 to The Detroit Garage for an oil change and filter replacements after their pricing seemed competitive on the phone. Despite being offered and using a 15% off coupon, the final bill for the oil change, air filter, and engine filter was nearly identical to what a certified Volvo dealer charges. When I pointed this out, the response was, "We are not any cheaper."<br>This experience highlighted several issues beyond just the misleading pricing:<br>Misleading Pricing: The initial offer and the implication that an independent shop would be more affordable were false. I ended up paying dealership prices for non-dealership service.<br>Specialized Knowledge and Equipment: Unlike a certified dealer, independent shops don't have specialized, up-to-date knowledge or the latest diagnostic equipment for Volvo vehicles. You lose the peace of mind that your car is being serviced by factory-trained technicians.<br>Incorrect Maintenance Information: A major red flag was the sticker left on my windshield, which incorrectly recommended an oil change after 5,000 miles. For modern Volvos using synthetic oil, the manufacturer-recommended interval is 10,000 miles or one year. This demonstrates a lack of brand-specific knowledge.<br>Missing Value-Adds: Certified dealers often include complimentary services like car washes and vacuums, which this independent shop did not provide.<br>Service History: Having service performed at a certified dealer ensures a complete and verified service history, which is valuable for resale and warranty purposes. This history is not logged when using an independent shop.<br>Ultimately, I paid the same price for less expertise and without the added benefits of certified service. For my next service, I will be returning to an actual Volvo dealership. For other XC60 owners, I highly recommend getting a precise quote in writing and considering all the associated benefits before opting for an independent shop.

Detroit garage has always been Very efficient and Thorough with their 22 point inspections to making sure all things are working well and what needs to be done ASAP and what could wait. I love their red, yellow and green yes or no process. We will be back if we need any other help with our cars in the future.
