⭐ 1 Star – Management Needs to Address This Immediately

I am leaving this very detailed review because what I experienced at Payless Auto Salvage goes far beyond a simple mistake. I wanted basic customer service, honesty, and accountability. I don’t care how big of a business this is — customers still deserve respect. What I received instead was disrespect, dishonesty, and repeated bad parts, with no effort to make things right.

One of their employees told me I had a credit on my account. Later, that same employee said it was entered wrong and tried to blame me for their internal mistake. He even told me I could “overwrite Oscar” for the credit, which is extremely unprofessional and concerning. When I calmly explained that it wasn’t fair to a customer and that they should stand by what their employee told me, he became rude and hostile and threatened to not help me at all.

When I arrived at the shop in person, the situation got even worse. The employee stood there with a smug grin, clearly antagonizing me instead of trying to resolve the issue, and told me to “lose their number.” That is not how any paying customer should ever be treated.

Then there’s the issue with the parts — which was unacceptable. They sold me bad shocks not once, but twice, and never corrected the problem or offered a real solution. No replacement that worked, no accountability, no effort to make it right. On top of that, they lied to me about the tie rods, claiming they were bad and saying they threw them away, leaving me with no way to verify or reuse them.

The final straw was when they had me drive an hour and a half to pick up a rack and pinion they knew I was holding for pickup. When I arrived, the boot was completely busted. There is no reasonable explanation for having a customer make that drive when the part was clearly damaged beforehand.

This review is not about nitpicking — it’s about patterns: blaming the customer, selling bad parts repeatedly, wasting time and money, and treating customers with open disrespect. I am posting this as a warning to others so they don’t experience what I did.

I am also formally requesting management to respond and address this situation. If this is ignored, I will be taking this matter further by sharing my experience with the Better Business Bureau and Facebook, so other customers are fully aware of how situations like this are handled.

All I wanted was honest communication, working parts, and basic respect. That should not be too much to ask

BUYER BEWARE!!!

I called on Friday to inquire about this transmission you had listed as a Grade A part for $250. I asked if it was indeed a Grade A part, working with no issues. I was assured that it was working and that it is that price because you have overstock and are just trying to move parts off the shelf. I was also told it came with a warranty, but it would not be ready to pick up until Monday.

I rented a car to come up there for what was listed as a Grade A part for it not to be even a working part. Far from Grade A if it’s not working! I asked how you can say it’s a Grade A part if it’s not working and was told it was a fresh pull and didn’t know until it got pulled, meaning it wasn’t already checked and run tested, or a Grade A part, as was stated. Then you tried to tell me you had one for $800 that is working, making me think that was the plan all along, bait and switch. Tell me you have a transmission that was verified to fit and is Grade A working order, and have me drive 3 hours one way, only to switch it and say that the $250 transmission doesn’t work but have an $800 one that will work. So you pull that one and proceed to tell me it has issues too?! And you want to know what I want to do?! After that experience?! And don’t want to work with me on crediting anything! I’m interested to know, what would you do?

⸻

⭐ 1 Star – Witnessed This Firsthand, Completely Unacceptable Behavior

I am writing this review as William’s girlfriend, because I personally listened to the phone call and was physically present at the shop during this entire situation. What I witnessed from Payless Auto Salvage was rude, dishonest, and completely unprofessional behavior toward a customer who was simply asking to be treated fairly.

From the very beginning, one of their employees told William that he had a credit on his account. Later, that same employee claimed the credit was entered wrong and tried to blame William for their own mistake. He even told him he could “overwrite Oscar” for the credit, which alone shows a lack of professionalism. When William calmly said that wasn’t fair and that a business should stand by what their employee tells a customer, the employee became rude and hostile and threatened to not help him at all.

I personally heard the tone on the phone call, and it was dismissive and disrespectful. When we arrived at the shop, it got even worse. The employee stood there with a smug grin, clearly antagonizing the situation instead of resolving it, and actually told William to “lose their number.” As someone standing there watching this happen, I was shocked by how openly disrespectful and unnecessary the behavior was.

The parts situation was just as bad. They sold him bad shocks twice, and at no point did they properly correct the issue or make it right. They also lied about the tie rods, claimed they were bad, and said they threw them away, leaving no option to verify or reuse them.

To top it all off, they had William drive an hour and a half to pick up a rack and pinion that they knew he was coming for. When we arrived, the boot was completely busted. There is no excuse for having a customer make that drive when the part was clearly damaged beforehand.

This review is not written out of anger — it is written as a warning to other customers. I personally witnessed this treatment, and no one should be spoken to or treated this way by a business, regardless of how “big” they are.

I am strongly urging management to respond and address this situation. If this behavior is ignored, this experience will be shared further with the Better Business Bureau and on Facebook, so others are aware of how customers are treated here.

All William wanted was honest communication, working parts, and basic respect. What we experienced instead was the complete opposite.
