I understand that every dealership service department is different, but I expected “The Works” at BF Evans Livermore to be similar to other Ford dealers. I really needed to know the condition of my brakes and battery, which other dealerships have always listed. When I received the worksheet, I was concerned that literally everything was “good.” My tires, rated for 60,000 miles on a truck with 58000+ “good” with no tread depth recorded. My original brakes, no measurements, just “good.” My 6 year old battery, no amps, just “good.” To the credit of the worker at the service counter, I asked about the battery reading. He called the technician who came with scanner in hand to check it. The scanner couldn’t read the battery (meaning it was never read). After being unable to read it, the technician advised me to replace it (thus moving the battery from “good” to “bad”). The cashier had no idea how to honor a service coupon listed on BF Evans website, but thankfully someone in the back seemed to know. Rebate should be coming in four to six weeks (hopefully). I was absolutely shocked to learn that the Ford dealership can’t sell Motorcraft oil filters as cheap as Amazon or Walmart (BF Evans = $12.70, Amazon/Walmart = $8.44). I know this review might seem negative, but all the people from the service counter, to technician, to the cashier, to the random employee offering me coffee while I waited were friendly, helpful, and hospitable. I’m confident in their desire to offer customer satisfaction- in my case, it simply fell short- but I believe they will address these issues to be even better in the future. For anyone considering getting their vehicle serviced, the Works package and price is not the same at all Ford dealers, so ask ahead of time to know what will happen to your vehicle, what will be told to you, and what it will cost you. Update: The owner of BF Evans Livermore contacted me and said he had discussed the points brought up in my review with his shop. To me, that’s a quality move. Every business can have hiccups, it’s what’s done with them that shows what a business is really about. I will likely go back for service in the future.
