You will need a military ? pass to be able to drive onto the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard if you follow Google Maps. There is a gate with guards that Maps takes you to. Seavey's Island, which the United States Supreme Court says belongs to Maine, but I say the Shipyard belongs to Portsmouth, ? grrr!. I used to work at the Shipyard but not for it. Before then, I visited as a kid with me Mum when they had a tour of a submarine open for the public. Both times I thought ? the Shipyard looked rundown. I hope things have improved. I have seen the huge cranes moving on the tracks. It is impressive. You have to be careful sailing near Seavey's Island. The captain of the Gundalow in Portsmouth was "pulled over" by Maritime Patrol for accidentally sailing too close. She was just given a reprimand and they sometimes tease her as she sails by. You can see the island ?️ from Portsmouth. The Coast Guard park their cutter there. The Navel Prison, which is now a place for Navel personnel to store their ⛵ boats for the winter ❄️, is the iconic building ? of the island. They used to serve lobster ? to the prisoners because at the time it was cheap. If they ever do tours, I would love to go!
