This is the 3rd and final update (downgrade) to this review. I initially upgraded a prior review based on the responsiveness of Autoworks management and good faith in addressing a customer service and diagnostic issue. However, subsequent repairs and findings have been completely unsatisfactory. My car was serviced for brake/rotor/caliper replacement on both axles, in addition to battery and A/C troubleshooting. The brake service alone cost $3800. After working through a customer service issue and questionable charges related to the battery testing and diagnostics, I came home to find that three of my “new” calipers were completely rusted out in under a week but one caliper had been properly coated and was free from any rust at all (pictures below). I had been charged the same rate for each caliper and the difference in calipers was never communicated to me prior to installation. They were represented as “new” but were in fact uncoated “reconditioned” parts. Could you imagine going to a shop for new tire rim replacement and they put on three white rims and a hot pink one? And reassure you that they may look different but they are at least warrantied. How many of you would be happy? What would that do to the resale value of your car? Then, three days after returning home from my initial brake service, my check engine light came on for the first time in the eight years I have owned the car. I called the shop and they agreed to correct the issue with the calipers by coating them and reinstalling at no charge. The cause of the check engine light was determined to be a bad solenoid valve to the tune of an additional $300. So I approved the repair charge hoping the shop would right their wrong, but not even a day later the check engine light is back on after the $300 solenoid replacement. So what did I pay for? Why would I go back for another costly “fix” and wasted time? I gave this shop every chance to show quality service but I cannot in good faith recommend anyone service their vehicle here. The cost does not seem justified in hindsight. There are serious quality and diagnostic issues that need addressing. I appreciate management’s willingness to find flexible solutions to the problems caused by the repair efforts, but why would anyone pay a premium for misdiagnosed car issues and glaring quality control problems?

A night of photography in the snow turned into a nightmare when my car impersonated a steam train in downtown Portsmouth... I smelled the sweat scent of coolant and knew I had a very short time to find a place to park for a tow. I popped a heater hose from the block. All of the lots in Portsmouth would have cost me a parking ticket in the snow so I quickly made my way across the bridge. I thought I could make it somewhere close to figure out the next step and have it towed to my mechanic from there. I went up over the hill on Government St. where I use to live and passed right by Auto Works the same way I did about a thousand times before. At the stop sign I realized the convenience of leaving my car there for the weekend instead of carrying on. As I pulled in to park, my coolant light came on... The universe was on my side as usual!! After a short voicemail was left with the garage, and my keys were dropped, I awaited a ride and a phone call from them on Monday. Within 24 hours from there I had my car back and on the road!!! Noah was very kind and courteous when we were in touch. He was quick to let me know what the issue was and what the possibilities could potentially be from there. Everything worked out great. When I arrived to pick up my car I was happily greeted at the front desk by one of my old managers from another business many years ago!! Patrick!! Dang what a great guy you've got there. He took care of the invoicing aspect of things and let me know how pleased he genuinely is working there. Autoworks has a solid team and a very professional approach to customer service in the automotive repair industry. I now have another shop that I can trust in the area and that means the world to me! You're in good hands with these folks!!!

Great customer service. I had some concerns about loose lug nuts. I offered to pay for an appointment but Noah checked them for free in few minutes. I will definitely be back.
