Car was targeted because of a collision they didn’t put a 48 hr sticker on my car and it was wrongly towed away from my apartment the apartment complex didn’t have it listed just to be told I’m not allowed to get my stuff out and it’s 530$ to get it back this feels like a robbery tbh I’m getting my lawyer involved and police because now this is a problem

Finally. My turn for the review. To anyone reading the review, Asset towing is like a frog in the well in its own world, thinks it’s the king. My car got towed from my apartment parking, I’d kept it there since it had some issues moving and informed my management about it but my management forgot to tell me the spot I parked it in belonged to the apartment opposite to mine, anyway not your guys’s fault. No notification whatsoever that it had been towed until I noticed my car gone after a week almost. Unfortunately tho, just before my car got into problems, I went to the DMV to ask what documents I needed to title it in my name( I’d bought it recently). I’m an international student so they asked me to bring my passport , title etc etc. I took them in a red bag and kept it in the trunk. Now when it got towed, the bag was in it. Along with my passport. I go to these guys, they say I owe them this much and asked for ID, rightfully so. Ofcourse! they don’t listen to what we have to say, they just walk away when you’re talking. That’s what they’re hired to do. They’re not your Best Buy/ Walmart employees. After explaining why the car isn’t in my name yet and after explicitly explaining that I just need my passport for now, they said we can’t give you personal belongings right now, by appointment only. She said come back on 28th November. It was weird but I did come back on 28th. This time there was a different lady, who later on claimed to be the ‘owner’. I explained to her what I was told and she said they couldn’t find the title to my car in the car. I asked them whether they checked inside the red bag, in the trunk. She doesn’t know. I asked if she could search then, she couldn’t . She said come back tomorrow, we could do it. Btw, in between all these trips I’m making to this place, they are telling me to make my dealership call them, made me go to the dealership which 25 miles away to get some papers, go to the dmv and try to get a receipt. This is all happening while I’m on Foot, traveling by metro, it takes 1.5 hours to reach home from this towing company. I called the next day, they keep telling me , call back in the next hour but they end up saying there’s nobody. I informed them way prior that a passport is a government document. It is assigned to the individual but owned by the government.Which makes withholding a passport against the assigned individual’s consent , ILLEGAL. Which is taken pretty seriously for a foreign national in any country. This is a critical document for me since my visa status, my education here and my capability to go Home depends on this and I am flying home in a few days. With no further options, I had to go to my University for help. They did help me get in touch with Hazelwood PD. I reached the location and officers of Hazelwood PD responded to support. Surprisingly, their tone got all mellow, they weren’t rude anymore and let me talk ! ?. They said my car was at their Berkeley location and they’d have it by 2-3 pm. I was determined to not go home without my passport and I waited around. Finally by 3 pm they handed over my red bag , which contained my title, paperwork, passport and everything that I told them it contained. Almost shed a tear for the amount of effort, mental exhaustion, anxiety these 3 weeks have given me. Ironically, Asset towing , a stickler to their rules , don’t know that holding back someone’s passport is a punishable offense. Maybe you should put that in the lobby where you’ve written so many rules. I am proud of myself for not once losing my temper and throughout my visits there, I have treated the two ladies I talked to with utmost respect. Just wish I got that in return. One of them was rude to me throughout but the other one did sympathize with me after a while. All in all I just think Asset towing is a self loathing company which victimizes itself and lives life on the ‘glass half empty’ side. And now ofcourse, there’s gonna be a reply to this review with some ‘smart’ comebacks. Can’t wait for it.

I am not generally a disgruntled person and have been accused of letting things slide. So this is a difficult review to type up. I had my vehicle towed from an airbnb I was staying at this weekend. I assume responsibility for not making sure I was authorized to park where I did. I was in st. Louis for a college graduation. We had packed a few things of my daughter's in the back of the truck to move her back to my home state. My truck had a bed cover on it. Previously, I had tried various times to remove it without success and had several other people try. I forgot to tie it down a few times and it hung on tight going down the highway. So i dont believe it just flew off. When I picked up my truck from the tow yard. My bed cover was gone, as well as several heavy items that were back there. No possibility of it flying out due to the weight. My suspicious when the bed cover was removed lies in the fact that if it was removed before it was towed then many of the light items in the back would have flew out while going down the road. But miraculously, the items remained while the heavier items were gone. I am sure it will be my word against the company's and I don't know what my recourse of action would be for this incident. A weekend that was supposed to be one of celebration turned into a nightmare. Just disappointed. Oh and they broke my mirror.
