While traveling behind one of D&N's trucks on Route 24, an object from the truck hit my windshield and caused a fist-sized spider web type crack. I contacted D&N immediately, as I was able to get their phone number and company name off of the side of the truck, but not the license plate - it was not clearly visible and I didn't have the opportunity to remain behind him long enough because traffic was moving quickly (RT 24 is a heavily traveled highway, well known for dangerous and deadly accidents). After speaking with the man who answered the phone, Dick, he confirmed that the company hauled out of Freetown, which confirmed the trucks location. At this point I felt confident they would handle the issue, but much to my disappointment, since then, they have not. In fact, they refused based on the fact I didn't have a license plate number, didn't flag down the driver (on a deadly highway), or photos of debris flying off of the truck (who keeps their phone out and on record while driving?!). As a woman in the construction industry for over 10 years, I have handled many windshield damage complaints and never ONCE denied a claim, as it is common for this type of thing to happen occasionally. I am absolutely disgusted at the unprofessional attitude of D&N Trucking, their insurance agent, Sinclair Insurance, and their carrier, Acadia Insurance (representative Erin Burshon). As a whole, they were very defensive, completely dismissing the fact that the cost of a $300 windshield is a drop in the bucket for them, but as a single mother, it takes from my already tight income. I will be sure to spread the word, considering I conduct a lot of business with trucking companies in both RI and MA. Shame on D&N Trucking for this poor business practice!
