Customer reviews of Paul B Moyer & Sons Inc in Jamisonville, PA
4.3 stars based on 30 reviews- TTim Martin
My name is Tim and Id like to share a very poor experience with Paul B Moyer & Sons. I took my Ariens 24" platinum blower for a full service back in December 2025. My machine was ready in one 1 day when I was told it would take 6/7 days. I picked the very next day. I brought home and stored in my garage and thr following week we got a snow storm and needed to use. I found the directional chute was rotating all by itself without touching the control handle on dash. My snow blower is 13.5yrs old and looks brand new as I take great care of my equipment I called Moyer and Sons and they agreed to come pick up blower to take back to shop which I felt was the right thing to do and I thanked them for doing so. Few days later I get a call that the unit is ready and I speak to the mechanic Tom who told me he had a hard time trying to find what was causing the issue. Mind that I've never had any issues with the control of the directional chute the entire time I've owned this blower. Tom proceeds to tell me he found a clip up near the gear housing that was bent and had to bend it back into shape. At this time im not exactly sure whats he's talking about so I ask to speak with him when I pick up blower. I back up to loading dock and Tom brings unit out and shows me that's it working and working properly. Tom said he doesnt know how the clip got bent and insinuated that I was slamming the chute hard left and hard right and that's how.the clip got bent. I said that is not true I do not operate my equipment that way and besides my chute was working 100% fine when I brought in for service. If it wasn't I would've reported it as an issue. I get the unit home now a second time not checking it before I left and once I got home and off my truck to try it seamed little better but nowhere near the way it should be. In few days we get another storm so I go get started and now the shoot is worse than ever. Now im really upset as I paid $202. for them to break my snowblower. So I call and Tom the mechanic gets on the phone and is all apologetic and says we never have issues with customers having to return their equipment. Tom proceeds to say I tested it for you and it was working when you picked it up! I said yes it appeared so but you were operating it not me. You were up on the loading dock where I was down on the ground. I took home again to find unit wasn't repaired correctly. I called immediately and spoke with Tom who I just spoke.with when picking up. He was in disbelief and said I showed you it was working. I said Tom its still not right. He apologized and said he spent alot of time trying to find the problem. I called few days later and requested manager. I spoke with Mike who asked me to return blower again and they look at and do what they can. So I let few days go by and decided to find another Ariens dealer to take it to. The mechanic helps me take off truck and asked why am I bringing in. I explained why that the chute is not operating correctly and we find a broken clip on the tailgate of the truck. The mechanic also notices 2 of the cables were incorrectly adjusted that control the auger, and a self propel wheels. I called the shop today to check on the blower and the blower is now repaired. The service department inform me that the friction disk had to be replaced. The cables were adjusted correctly, and that the chute is also now repaired for a total of $223. I called moyer and sons to speak with Mike asking if I can get my refund back for the original $202. Mike refused as he said, this was not what our agreement was that I was to return snowblower back to him for repair. I said yes, that was true. But then I got to thinking, why would I want to bring my snow or back to you for a third time for you to fix it. When it should have never been broken in the manner that it was broken at to begin with. Also to find that cables were not adjusted at the new location that stated that the cables were not adjusted. And that a friction disc had to be replaced. And why wasn't that picked up with your shop. I went in to ask a question about getting my snow blower started. The associate tried to make me feel stupid and told me I probably already ruined it by trying to start it with last years gas. He told me to bring it in and it would cost $150 to drain the old gas and then they would go from there. It took me 5 minutes to drain the old gas from the tank and the remaining amount from the carburetor. I removed the spark plug, sprayed Gumout on the plug and into the hole where the plug goes. I added new gas and it started first try.
