We’ve been visiting Fish Lake for over 33 years and absolutely love the natural beauty and peaceful magic that this area offers. It’s truly a special place. Regarding accommodations: the cabins vary in condition. Some, such as those near the lodge, have received updates in recent years, such as new carpet, appliances, and furniture, which is a welcome improvement. However, several cabins are still in need of renovation. We’ve personally experienced rodent/mice issues in some of the lakeside units, which is why we now choose to stay in the RV campground or at Fish Lake Lodge cabins. The Lakeside Campground is very basic, offering full hookups, a picnic table, and a fire ring. While it’s not particularly fancy, it serves its purpose, and we appreciated access to the laundry room in the newer motel nearby. The front desk staff have always been friendly and professional during our visits. That said, it’s worth noting that Fish Lake has some of the strictest policies we’ve encountered in our full-time RV travels across the U.S. Their cancellation and check-in/check-out policies are especially rigid; early check-ins and late checkouts are not permitted under any circumstances, and this is clearly stated in their materials. While we understand the need for structure, it may feel inflexible for travelers used to more accommodating experiences. For those planning a stay, we’d recommend reading all policies closely before booking and considering whether the amenities and rules align with your expectations. Next year, we may explore some nearby boondocking options, but we’ll always hold a deep fondness for the lake itself.

I have been coming to Fish Lake for over 35 years and it never seems to disappoint. The 4th of July was no exception. Perfect weather, good clean rooms with amazing views. You could not ask for more.

Stayed at the Lakeside cabin #2 I understand, rustic and not having a TV or microwave however, uneven flooring in this cabin is an accident waiting to happen. The shower drained directly on the floor due to the uneven flooring and water was everywhere in addition, cobwebs and mouse traps on the floor visible we had to use our own lawn chairs and blankets in the cabin because we didn’t dare sit on anything due to the condition of the furniture we did not stay all of the nights that we had planned. We did not go fishing and rent a boat as we had planned. This was the worst place we could’ve ever chosen to stay at Fish Lake. This area is so beautiful and we couldn’t even stay the duration of our plan because of this cabin condition, our original cabin got changed due to the fires over the summer. We ended up with this cabin instead and was told it’s similar, which is kind of scary to think about. Good luck if you want to stay here in the future.
