I wanted to get rid of some wheels that came off of a truck I no longer have. I went and got my permit from the Sherrif's office and took them to Stewart. The process was easy, the people were friendly and I got some money in my pocket.

Big ripoff! If you take more than a few bags of cans they refuse to weigh them on the regular scale. They want you to drive onto the heavy scale to weigh. You cant tell me that thing is accurate! I know weights have seemed hinky. Took a big load down the other day - 20 big garbage bags. Came out to 50 lbs. At 40cents a lb a whopping 20 bucks. Yeah...guess Ill either find another scrap yard or give my cans to someone else. Not worth it.

Unlike the county recycling yards, this is a commercial yard and they pay you. They take steel aluminum and cardboard as well as a few other items. I don't know what their price is on cardboard, just that it's pretty convenient if you have a give load of cardboard to get rid of.
