Our recently graduated daughter stayed at the Hyatt hotel where she purchased 24-hour reserved parking as a guest. She was told by the front desk that she had the ability to park in their designated parking lot. She paid a $16 fee and was told upon check in the fee allowed guests of the hotel a spot that was “reserved for 24-hours.” She followed the instructions to the garage and parked in a spot that was marked Reserved for 24-hour parking at approximately 7pm on the day of check in. Upon returning to the garage at approximately 11am the following day (16 hours later), her car was not in the spot - she confirmed it was towed by Walker’s Towing in State College. She followed instructions provided by the hotel, did not violate the law, parked legally as a guest of the Hyatt who paid for parking, and she was parked in their designated garage, all confirmed by Jake the Operations Manager at the Hyatt with Justin at Walker’s Towing yet Walker’s would not release the car unless $335 was paid and the fee would increase $100 per hour. No surprise that the tow company was extremely rude and abrasive - I get it and expected to be treated poorly by the - which we were and extremely poorly. After all they’re not in a customer friendly business and if you park illegally there should be no recourse. However, they are scammers when it comes to those they tow who are legally parked. The State College Police - who were absolutely amazing to deal with - confirmed that this happens frequently and the hotel also confirmed it was not the first time a guest’s car was towed. There is vague signage and Walker’s knows this — they use the vague signage to take advantage of young students, recent grads, and visitors. They intentionally use these unethical practices to take advantage of hardworking students and visitors. The scamming, scheming, and unethical practices of this business are astounding. They quite literally prey upon young people, charge exorbitant amounts of money, increase fees based on time, costing people hundreds of dollars when they are legally parked. The only recourse one has is to ensure state legislators and the media methodically reviews and investigates Walker’s business practices so the public is protected when they are legally parked. By all means tow those who are knowingly parked illegally - those who are either legally parked or duped due to inaccurate, obscure, or vague/confusing signage should not be defrauded and/or taken advantage of. I am confident when examined more carefully by officials and media outlets, a solution will be found to protect innocent people victimized by Walker’s Towing going forward.

Unfortunately made the mistake of leaving my car in the wrong spot, which rightfully deserves a tow. My reason for this review is the treatment of the situation. Employees were rude for no reason (I was also in a bad mood but not bad enough to be treated as rudely as I was) and not to mention it is preposterously overpriced. They simply did their job, but they can do it with a little more grace next time. Do not get your car towed by these guys!

My car was towed after being in an empty parking lot for exactly 2 hours at 11 pm on a tuesday. I was charged $335 for the tow, which included a $60 dolly fee, and a $25 parking ticket on top of that which is absolutely ridiculous. The tow company was just 8 minutes down the road. Also said if i didn’t get there by 12 am the price would go up when it was towed only an hour before that. The place reeked of cigarettes and the workers were extremely rude when they are the ones predatorily towing people. Terrible company and should be shut down for their illegal tickets.
