Tried to contact this man about finishing a job he started for us weeks ago and demanded payment for before it was completed as described. He stopped replying entirely to one of the people who lives here for the last week so I decided to see if he would answer for me. I reached out and said I wanted to hire someone to do a job, and he called me immediately to tell me he could be over to my house today within an hour. What great news! So I sent him a photo of the partially completed work in our backyard and told him I was so glad he could swing by within an hour because he still had tools he had left in our yard in addition to the rest of the job left to complete. He didn't respond so I pressed him on it and he blew up at me and said he was angry that he had done the job for way less than it was worth. It is not our fault that he quoted us less than he thought the job was worth. He blames everyone but himself for the business he runs. While working with him, he consistently blamed: Not having enough workers available Not having enough "business cash flow" He asked for a partial payment halfway through the job "to keep the momentum up" and then, when we asked him for a contract amendment in order to put any of this in writing, he sent us a scribbled on screenshot of a contract addendum template. We gave him the partial payment to "keep the momentum going" and then he ghosted us for more than two weeks. When we finally got back in touch with him he complained that the job was too hard for what he quoted us for. We asked him to fulfill the contract. He told one of us that he was planning on finishing a couple of things. He told a different person in person that the work was done and he needed payment immediately. Obviously we clearly need to learn some things ourselves, but this guy is so shady. At various points he told us he couldn't come out to the job site because he was having "cash flow problems." Hire this guy if you want someone to make excuses, complete about 80% of a job over the course of many weeks, and alternatively blow up at you and ghost you when you try to get him to act like a professional. If you do hire him, get it all in writing. He prefers to call you over the phone so you don't have his lies written down. Thankfully, we've got a lot of his broken promises in writing from him.
