EDIT: I emailed them about this scale issue and they not only looked into the scale (found an issue and fixed it), but also refunded me the entire amount. The communication was fairly quick and happy with how they handled the issue. Just dropped off a storm door and a bunch of mattress foam, a blanket topper and some plastic. The storm door was heavy but max 100lbs (easily got it in and out the truck myself) This load was in the bed of a tiny ford ranger. They claimed I unloaded 540lbs!! Charged me $60. In comparison, last year I went there with a full sized dodge ram filled to the brim with building materials and old furniture (needed a second person to help because it was too heavy to unload myself)….I didnt even hit the minimum weight so they charged me their standard minimum of $30.

Okay, so I came here to drop off about 5 normal 13 gallon bags of miscellaneous clutter from my home and garage.. the sign clearly indicates that you will be charged $145/ton, no problem right? Wrong. I drop my stuff, return to the scale house and I am told, “that’ll be $105” No. I’m sorry, I didn’t drop garbage bags full of metal and concrete scrap. So, I asked for an explanation of the weight, and the guy working there said, “I don’t know, I’ve literally never done this before.” That inspired confidence… So, I pressed a little more because I’m not paying $20/bag to get rid of some misc. garbage. New total was $66.69. I still wasn’t thrilled. The base cost was $42.60 (still too high, the items did not weigh 600 lbs, as the receipt indicates) What they don’t tell you is that there are several “taxes and fees” tacked onto the cost. This was a near criminal exchange. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that government agencies are not interested in offering honest services to their constituents. Shameful.

Be careful with this place. I went to unload items today but before doing so, I read several comments about them overcharging people and I was skeptical because I thought the customers must not have known the rates before going in. So just to make sure this didn’t happen to me, I checked the rates ahead of time and guesstimated my items. I had a standard mattress ($20), 2 empty TV boxes, old metal bed frame that weighed about 50 lbs, a vacuum cleaner and 2 old carry-on suitcases. Minus the mattress which is a separate charge, a total of around 100 lbs or less, they told me I had over 1200 pounds that I unloaded in charge me a total of $131! I paid it because I didn’t know what else to do but just know this does happen often according to my own experience and others that have chosen to write a review.
