I was completely blown away by the efficiency and professionalism at the Dayton NJ Motor Vehicle Commission. The moment I arrived, a manager greeted everyone outside before the doors even opened, clearly explaining the process and what to expect. This simple act set the tone for the entire visit. Inside, the staff was incredibly organized and focused. They were on their toes, quickly directing customers and checking documents to ensure everything was in order, which prevented long, frustrating waits. This agency is a stark contrast to other offices where staff often seem disorganized and disengaged. The only minor hiccup was one employee who had a condescending manner, but even she worked quickly and efficiently once we were at her window. Thanks to the manager's leadership, what could have been an all-day ordeal was completed in just 15 minutes. This team sets the standard for how a public service office should be run.

This place is an utter embarrassment. The employees are surly, rude, and unprofessional. Their slovenly attire is appalling, and more appropriate for a pick-up basketball game. This might be overlooked if they were at least somewhat helpful or efficient, but they're neither. My situation: a salvage company mailed plates to someone who resided at my address a long time ago. I called the repo company, and I agreed to surrender the plates at Dayton, as a favor to them and the car's former owner. Seems simple, right? Wrong. These folks just cannot think "outside the box," at least during work hours. They were curt and disinterested, even though I had nothing to gain from it personally. Bottom line? They just couldn't be bothered. I eventually just left the plates there, and asked them to handle it. Today, four business days later, they were redelivered to my house again, in the same packaging. All they did was throw it back into the mail stream. No good deed...

Open online to make an appointment and they had same-day appointments available. This place was super available to access although it was a 45-minute drive for me but I needed my license plates today and they were available. When I went in they were super friendly and my number was called within 5 minutes. I was even able to conduct several transactions within one visit. What else is crazy is that there isn't even an armed officer or a security guard. If you want to avoid people with bad attitudes then you should take a little drive, enjoy the scenery and enjoy the peace and quiet of getting your transactions done.
