Customer reviews of Bear Tire And Auto Center in Hainesport, NJ
4.5 stars based on 30 reviews- AAlter Wagschal
I would like to take a moment to thank and especially to recognize Troy for his outstanding help when he came to jump-start my car. He arrived promptly, was professional, courteous, and went the extra mile to make sure my vehicle was running properly before he left. It’s not every day you come across someone who combines technical skill with such a positive attitude. Troy turned what could have been a very stressful situation into a smooth and reassuring experience.

I’m only giving them one star because I can’t give them zero. Bear Tire & Auto Center showed an incredible lack of care and professionalism. My 81-year-old father’s car broke down and was towed to a dealership by Bear Tire & Auto. We had already waited over five hours for the tow (not their fault — AAA was just backed up). Our young son was home waiting for us, so the driver suggested we go home and that he would handle dropping off the car and the key at the dealership. He arrived after hours. Instead of putting the key into the dealership’s dropbox, as is standard procedure, he handed it to “some guy in the break room” — whose name he didn’t ask for and who he only assumed was an employee. The next day, the dealership had no record of the key, and none of their employees knew anything about it. Now my father, who lives on a fixed income, has to pay $500–$600 for a replacement key before the car can even be diagnosed or repaired. When I called Bear Tire & Auto to discuss this, I was met with complete indifference and, ultimately, rudeness. The woman I spoke to was dismissive, rude, and unprofessional. Her immediate response was, “Not our problem.” She talked over me repeatedly, refused to listen, and eventually hung up on me. At one point she even blamed us — saying we should have followed the truck to the dealership instead of “making [the driver] deal with dropping off the key.” We never asked him to do that — he OFFERED. We had planned to follow him; HE was the one who suggested we just go home. If Bear Tire & Auto doesn’t want their drivers handling after-hours drop-offs, then they should make a specific company policy against allowing them to suggest it. I’m a paralegal, and I deal with people in stressful situations every day, all day long. If I treated my clients the way Bear Tire & Auto treated me today, I wouldn’t have a job. Even if they want to deny responsibility for mishandling the key, their customer service alone was absolutely unacceptable. I'm not an unreasonable person, but their representative on the phone treated me like a criminal the minute she heard why I was calling, which immediately sent the conversation flying off the rails. Completely unacceptable. I wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone. Blaming the customer and hanging up on them is no way to run a business.

Mike #118 the driver from Bear was sent out by AAA to our home when we were having auto battery issues. Mike came immediately and was thorough in his assessment and testing that it wasn’t our battery and therefore we didn’t need a replacement. We were thankful that he was honest and forthright and were very happy with his service. Thank you Mike and Bear for great service.
