I came in to have my tires rotated before taking a road trip and also requested a state safety inspection. The check-in staff and Ally were very friendly and professional. I was originally told the wait would be about two hours, but the service ended up taking over three hours. After paying $54 and leaving, I stopped at a car wash and realized my tires had not been rotated, which was the main reason for my visit. I called the shop and the service advisor spoke with the technician and asked if I could return. Even though I was already across town, I came back and they completed the rotation. I was told the tech simply forgot. I appreciate the honesty and that they corrected the mistake, but my concern is that this has happened before with another vehicle I brought here for a tire rotation (tires I purchased from Pep Boys) and a state inspection. After waiting three hours and paying for a service that wasn’t completed, it’s disappointing. I’ve been a customer for years and hope better checks are in place to ensure services are completed before vehicles are returned.

Nothing at all quick about this place. An appointment doesn’t mean anything at all. I only need simple work done and have been sitting for almost 4 hours with a headache from inhaling the rubber fumes! There was another customer here who said she had been waiting for 6 hours. They need to tell you they don’t plan on starting your car for hours instead of wasting ppls times telling them to have a seat. Update: my car has sat all weekend I get in to move my car for the laundromat now my car won’t start it’s just clicking. Nobody asked for a “complimentary inspection” there was no need to open the hood at all. SCAMMERS!!

I made an appointment for 3:00, and when I got there I was told they'd "try" to get me in as if the appointment itself was meaningless. An elderly woman with a flat pulled in at the same time as me. After over an hour, someone came to pick her up only to find that her car was ready. They found an oil leak during the inspection, which I learned in a text from PepBoys, so I went to talk to them about it. While waiting for someone to speak to, I listened to two mechanics have a conversation about how much they could justify charging someone and how much they thought he would pay. When they did speak to me, I agreed to a $30 diagnostic test. The mechanic said "it was probably nothing big" but then corrected himself that he'd have to run the test to know. Eventually, they told me that the oil filter housing needed to be replaced and quoted the repair at $1,600. I told them I'd like my car back and immediately researched the actual cost. The consensus was that at the top of the range of possible prices was still about half of what this shop quoted me. Ultimately, my inspection (so virtually nothing of value to me since it failed) totaled over $130. The receipt included an $8 fee for "parts from shop" which I have no explanation for but was too upset to keep talking to this guy. (State inspections are $26, emissions $40, the diagnostic test $30.) I'm not one to get angry about individual locations and service people. They work for corporations whose only goal is profit. But in this case, there's real people standing right in front of you making real time decisions about how much they're going to charge you, and they are actively choosing to gouge you. It's reprehensible, especially considering they live in the same utter economic instability as the rest of the country. No sense of mutuality, solidarity or caring. It's so disappointing to have lost that money to just have to go somewhere else and start the entire process over. Update: I spoke to a decent mechanic. Not only is the cost outrageous but they shouldn't have failed my car for that issue, so they literally stole my money. Cool. I genuinely hope for their own financial survival other people don't treat them the way they treat their customers. I'm confident the workers aren't making bank on the exorbitant labor fees charged by the shop.
