I was brought to this site by my father in 1970.....we watched a reenactment on the First Day of Action site at night. After i grew up, survived 4 combat tours and a federal response to the NYC WTC site, I brought my children here in 2005. It is 2025 now, and the children are adults. They still have fond memories of the sunny day historical military portrayals and black powder smoke. Annual reenactments need to continue....they educate the public and preserve local and indigenous history.

When we arrived, one worker took us on a tour inside the museum, telling us the history and the culture of the era, and about the battle. Then he put on a short documentary for us that taught about the battle in greater detail. After the documentary, another worker took us on a ride on his golf cart, showing us the location of the battle sites. He was extremely knowledgeable of the history in the area, he was also very personable and made us feel welcome. We also saw they had a nice gift shop where we purchased a souvenir of our visit, and we see that they engage in a lot of activities for the local community. Definitely had a great experience here.

A must see in the area! The landscape is beautiful. There are many trails and a meadow you can walk through. The museum is self guided and free, with a short movie explaining what took place there. For $5 a person you can take a golf cart tour with a guide. Well worth it!!
