A Volkswagen Genius & Automotive Master for Over 4 Decades! Howard Pitkow at Wagenwerx is truly one of a kind—a genuine Volkswagen genius, and the only mechanic I trust implicitly. I’ve been trusting my cars to Howard for 40 years. I met him when I had my ’75 Super Beetle, followed by a ’90 Fox, a ’91 Fox Wagon, a ’95 Jetta, and a ’94 Golf. What makes Howard indispensable is that he expertly fixed every single one of those Volkswagens. Over the decades, he has proven to be a general automotive master, fixing every vehicle I've brought him, VW and non-VW alike. After taking a brief break from the brand, I finally bought my dream car: a 1970 Beetle Convertible. I had him check it out before I bought it and he recently got this back on the road! Throughout the complex process, he was meticulously honest, kind, and kept me updated. He test-drove it multiple times to ensure it was in perfect running condition before he returned it to me. I cannot ask for anything more in a mechanic. Because Howard has been the trusted mechanic for my entire history of car ownership—VW and non-VW alike—I know I can truly relax and enjoy this convertible for many years to come. I am incredibly grateful to Howard for helping me deal with a tricky situation. When I needed a second opinion after dealings with a shady mechanic in West Philly, I called Wagenwerx and Howard was able to fit me in that same week. He thoroughly checked over my car and was able to assure me that it was in good condition, effectively saving me the 1.6k the other mechanic had tried to convince me to spend to “repair” my car. Howard is professional, friendly, and his shop is clean. He has good music taste as well. His rates are more than reasonable. But most importantly, he is honest.
