We’ve bought several cars from Kingstown Auto over the years, and our experiences with Sina and the sales team have always been positive. They’ve been honest, helpful, and easy to work with, which is why this review is so disappointing to write. The issue is with the service department, not sales. Before driving from Rhode Island to Florida, we were told by David the owner of the service side, that our oil change and inspection were completed. After arriving in Florida, we learned the oil change was never done, which the shop later admitted and refunded. The oil filter wasn’t even screwed on correctly, and there were visible oil drops — problems that would have been obvious if any inspection had actually been performed. Because we relied on what we were told, we drove more than 1,300 miles with little to no oil. The engine now has major internal damage, including a broken camshaft, and the vehicle is not safe to drive back to Rhode Island. We now have to pay to transport it or repair it out of state. We’ve always trusted Sina and the sales side of the business, but the service department’s negligence has caused thousands of dollars in damage and put us in a dangerous situation. I strongly caution anyone considering using the service department at Kingstown Auto. David has offered no resolution.

Terrible experience. I was bringing my truck in for a second opinion as the dealer told me I needed $4500 of work done for a power steering leak, an issue that was not present before the oil change I brought it in for. I dropped off my truck to be seen on the scheduled day and time, and they told me I was supposed to be there the day before. They didn’t look at the truck until I called them 5 days later for a status update. They called me six hours later with a quote, but did not share whether they thought it necessary or did they feel as though this actually needed to be done. I was looking for a professional’s opinion and I got a rushed “I don’t know” from the receptionist. I asked for clarification and they did not call back. Picked it up the next day just before closing and paid $126 for basically nothing. Will definitely not go back.

A number of years ago we were looking for a minivan as our family had expanded but we were tight on money. The owner and subsequently his son, nephew and all the staff had done a great job in getting us into a good, safe and reliable minivan. Since then we have bought at least 8 cars from them and will continue to patronize their establishment. Most of the older cars were traded up and were still in good working condition. We trust them and their honesty and service. They're good people. The owner works off old school values. Something not seen these days and he's instilled it in his employees.
