If you're like me and you're unlucky enough to get a vehicle towed by these people and need to retrieve something without paying their (in my opinion) ridiculous fees, and they scream at you to get out and that you "better come back with The Law," here is that law. SC 56-5-5635, subsection F states that; (F) After the vehicle is in the possession of the proprietor, owner, or operator of the towing company, storage facility, garage, or repair shop, the owner of the vehicle as demonstrated by providing a certificate of registration has one opportunity to remove from the vehicle any personal property not attached to the vehicle. The proprietor, owner, or operator of the towing company, storage facility, garage, or repair shop must release any personal property that does not belong to the owner of the vehicle to the owner of the personal property. These people are, in my opinion, a case study on exactly why other people look down on both Southerners and small towns. If I could give them no stars I would, and I hope this post prevents them doing to someone else what they did to me.
