My friend’s car wouldn’t start when she was done shopping and a dealership said it needed to be towed. Niehaus came out right away, did a quick on-site inspection and easily jumped it started whereas I was unsuccessful. He told her to keep her car running for a bit, get the battery checked for replacement and no charge! So fast, friendly, and honest.

I genuinely can’t say enough phenomenal things about Niehaus Auto in Quincy, Illinois. I was more than just pleased—I was blown away by their incredible service. When I was still two hours out, I called around because no one else from Lake of the Ozarks to Quincy would help me on a Friday afternoon. Everyone else said trailer lighting issues would take too long to figure out. But DJ and his team went above and beyond in a way that was just remarkable. They rearranged their Friday night plans, stayed late, and had me back on the road in no time. Their pricing was a pleasant surprise—far less than I expected for the level of service—and they wouldn’t even accept dinner at on me. If you want a place that treats you like family and goes the extra mile, Niehaus Auto is absolutely the best service I have received even being from out of town.

Do not go here. I repeat do not go here. We brought our car in for an oil change and when they had dropped it off at our house the car no longer would go into drive. Dj the owner came to look at our car after hours and said he would pick it up the next day. The next day they said the solenoid needed replaced ,After replacing it they called, and said the whole engine needed replaced. We got a 2nd opinion at shottenkirk Chevrolet because the car was a chevy. They had diagnosed a completely different issue. One that niehaus never diagnosed. We strongly feel niehaus mechanic ruined our car, and they will not do anything about it. My wife called to ask how much experience the mechanic (seth) had and their own words were. "He's still wet behind the ears". There are many better mechanics in Quincy who aren't wet behind the ear. Dj is nice but he's a salesman at the end of the day and only cares for his bottom line. We are in the process of contacting the attorney General because the state of Illinois has protection laws against these kinds of situations. Please go anywhere else if you value your car I see Dj has replied and also doesn't want to say that the same car has been going to his shop for oil changes for over a year. He also knew about the one problem the car was having and his inadequate mechanics looked at it and at their recommendations we were told to get frequent oil changes to flush the sludge. Never once did he mention any of these "known chevy" problems as long as he was getting our business. Once the problem became too much for his inadequate mechanics thats when it turned into these cars are known for this issue. The car was not low on oil. Never once did he ever suggest to go to shottenkirk Chevrolet to make sure the problem wasnt worse than what they said until the car engine had died and we were the ones who suggested a 2nd opinion . Not niehaus because we did not believe them. We were right not to because the problem was completely different from what niehaus said. At the end of the day the car was drivable when we went for an oil change and when we got it back it would not even back out of our driveway. He is a salesman as I said before. He posted on Facebook on April of 2025 in search of a mechanic. Maybe he should post again and Hire a much better one.
