Hermes Auto & Upholstery JunkYard Reviews

Don't buy a vehicle from this place. They don't even bother to make sure the vehicle has a spare tire. Pretty screwed up, for a place that sells tires.

The whole team is extremely nice, and were able to get my car in right away. They had everything fixed and looked at by the next day. And they also took the time to explain what the issue was. I would highly recommend them to anyone and I will be taking my vehicle back when needed. Service: General repairs & maintenance

Super friendly and helpful! In our "throw away" society, finding upholstery repair is a challenge. Please support them so they stick around!

We have had several leather chairs redone, great friendly service! We were able to schedule it so that they were done on a day that we were closed so that we could get the chair back the next day before our customers were back!!We also bought new wooden blinds from them! From the consultation about which color to the final install the experience was GREAT! Very friendly and warm service. :o)

Courteous, prompt & knowledgeable service. Most importantly, I even got a Thank-you when I paid my bill, which is a rarity at several locales in Maquoketa anymore! "There you go" & "No problem" just doesn't cut it with me! Why WOULD it be a problem? I just helped pay your wages, RIGHT?

Friday-November 2nd at roughly 5pm...We received a call from Hermes Upholstery, my wife took the call from my phone and I listened from the background...Brenda, the wife, proceeded to berate my wife with regards to the rocking chair payment?!.We took them the chair the 1st week of August.(Let me remind you all its now November)After hearing a few minutes of discussion, Brenda started yelling through the phone at my wife; I was on another floor and in another room...my wife kept saying, “send us an itemized bill and we will pay it”.(My wife even gave her our address)Brenda did not accept any of the solutions my wife offered and handed the phone to her husband, Lavern. My wife continued to try and resolve the issue diplomatically with rational calm conversation by stating the facts, but Lavern would not listen and kept interrupting her over and over; she actually counted and stated to Lavern that he had interrupted her now 7x and is this anyway to treat any customer?!.(My wife is in education and her patience is quite astonishing)I ask you, If someone would call and yell at you, which Brenda did at my wife Angie, for several minutes, I would have hung up the phone...but Angie just kept trying to solve the problem by repeating herself in hopes they would listen, and that a rational human being on the other end of the phone line would accept the information and the call would be resolved?!.Nope.After numerous attempts by my wife to resolve the payment dispute, by offering numerous solutions, Lavern threatened small claims court for the unpaid rocking chair and ended the call?!.Summary...-Mrs. Hermes called my number, for the 1st time in 2.5months asking for payment?!.-We have no bill, which is why we asked to have it mailed to our local address with an itemized list of the expenses; standard business practices.-They refuse to send us a bill.-They refuse to accept anything but cash, even though we were never informed of any type of limited payment options.-They had the rocking chair for over a month before I was forced to stop in and ask about the status of the rocking chair.-They never made contact until November 2nd requesting cash payment only?!.-I visited the store a 3rd and final time in October and Lavern showed me the chair in a storage shed but would not let me see the chair, inspect the chair, sit in the chair or even touch the chair...”because it was wrapped up” which is what he told me when I asked?!.I ask you, if you left an item with a business and they never contacted you for over a month, and then you were forced to stop in to check on the status, request a finish date, never hear anything, then go back in 2 subsequent times to see it wrapped up in a storage shed but not allowed to actually see it or inspect it, have no itemized bill, and then be called over the phone saying it’s done and the cost is $451.50; while they yell at the customer on the other end of the phone...would you pay the bill?!.These people are most unprofessional we have ever experienced. They did nothing to garner our business; they came recommended, so I did not think I would have to go to such extremes to make sure they did a professional job or were professionals?!.They called us on November 2nd after the rocking chair had been there since August, berated my wife for payment, threatened court, and then hung up?!.I would highly recommend using anyone else for upholstery services in the Maquoketa area, as they stated they are keeping our chair, they will not provide an itemized bill, and they expect to be paid a made up cash due amount?!.We will never use Hermes ever again for anything; as this was our 1st experience with them.Mr. Scholl

My mom & I bought a car from there, in fact it was the 1985 Mustang LX and right after we got it the transmission went out and come to find out the owner knew that the transmission was bad in it when we bought it and never said a word to us. Well people he ended up giving me a check back for $400 even though I paid over $3,000 for it... Now you tell me doesn't that sound like he knew something was wrong with the vehicle if he was will to even give me $400 back... I do not recommend buying anything from here.

I went to Hermes Upholstery with two car seat bottoms to be repaired. I was told they would get to them in the next week so I left them there.... Two months and three visits later (to find out what the holdup was), they were finished. The seats look nice but the service was bad... I was lied to and I also got some attitude from the lady working there... I can only hope the material and workmanship hold up.
