Loved the old man who coordinated my visit! We enjoyed a Ripple and discussed his difficulties with his sister-in-law. When she dropped in for a donation to her church I was able to see for myself why he had a troubled relationship with her. I certainly did not appreciate being called a "heathen," but wasn't Fred's fault.For those considering relocating to the neighborhood, I recommend the luxurious Sanford Arms apartments next door. LAPD officers Smitty and Hoppy keep the neighborhood safe. But watch out for a cool-but-shady character named Rollo....

Great junk yard! Everything is “coordinated”!! Family atmosphere. Some guys named Bubba, Skillet, and Melvin we’re leaving as I got there with pool cues in hand. I bought A rare Blind Mellow Jelly record collection, an American Revolution rifle (recently shot), and some valuable and fragile porcelain. Before leaving, they invited me for lunch. A little pork and beans, a little zucchini, and some wild parsley. Delicious!! Before leaving, Fred gave me some good advice about getting out of the neighborhood before dark. 😳. As I walked to the car, Fred and Lamont sat outside drinking a beer together and laughing about old times! Unforgettable place! Highly recommend!

50 YEARS AGO TODAY: The world was introduced to Fred G. Sanford, his son Lamont and all the other unforgettable characters in a Watts junkyard. 'Sanford and Son' was one of my favorite shows to watch in re-runs as a kid growing up in Houston in the late 70s - early 80s. In fact, that is how I actually discovered the mind-blowing Watts Towers! 🤯Trivia: Redd officially announced the show's premiere during his appearance on the previous night's Flip Wilson Show. Flip's variety show was hugely popular at the time, although it's (sadly) almost forgotten now.Sooooo.... borrowing from one of Fred's most famous catchphrases: HAPPY 50, YOU BIG DUMMY!!! 😂

Came in for one hubcap for my new 1981 Oldsmobile Cutlasses and I found it, I asked how much it was and he said $20 to $45… i threatened to leave and he lowered it down to $2… I went to my car and three of my hubcaps and my new $200 FM stereo were stolen.

No frills junk yard ran by a local family. The old man isn’t very helpful and seemed lazy. The young man, who I assume is the son, is a big dummy! Can’t wait to go back for some more rusty gold!

Bad experience. When I arrived a rude old man and his wino friends were getting beat over the with a purse by a cursing church lady. I would go back for the entertainment!
