Even tho they may be a closed business, they are still open, because they need 2 sell off their inventory. They literally have many tons and tons of parts, sheet metal, wheels and glass. It is still worth a call to see if they may have what you want, I have known Mike and crew for over 40 plus years, so he trusts me enough to alow me to walk the grounds alone to look for what I may want. He points me to an old bus or section in a barn, where I might find it. Unfortunately they did not have what I was looking for.Until they close up and scrap and crush what is left, I will still call them for my needs FIRST.If only the olds parts could talk ?

I called and spoke to Daphene and was so happy that I got someone on the phone that knew what she was doing! She told me that she had the part I needed and I drove right over. When I arrived Brendan was really nice and I was in and out in no time! Thanks for great customer service! I look forward to using you again!

I needed a part for my Forester, and there were only two available in the US at the time: one at Silver's and the other at a yard in CA. Silver's gave me a great price (around 60% of what the yard in CA wanted), and shipped it to me on the other side of the country. They even took a picture and sent it to me prior to shipping to ensure it was the right item, and in case the shippers damaged it in transit.Highly recommend!

I agree that the staff can be rude. I was offended the first time I went into the office to ask questions. Yesterday, I went in all girded up for the tourist treatment at a hometown place. I asked if I could look at a camper for sale, and they said "The camper door should be open". As I was exiting, I heard "plate glass door" and I thought they were commenting on my inability to see the obvious. Makes me laugh. Be prepared for snark, and your visit can be entertaining. 😁I also felt intimidated that 3 people behind the counter focused attention on me. I felt like they were ganging up on the idiot who just walked into their private sanctum. 😕

I recently bought a used engine for my Volkswagon GTI, it had about 95,000 miles on it and came with the stock turbocharger and all accessories, I asked about the engine and was told it was in perfect working order when removed from the donor vehicle, I asked about the Turbo and was told the same. A few weeks later my mechanic finished the swap only to have problems with the turbo as soon as he started the car to test everything out. I contacted Silvers and let them know what happened, was expecting to pay money for a replacement but wanted to try and get a deal as the turbo should have been good. They ended up replacing the turbo the next day with one that they had checked out by their parts supplier along with a few people there in Orono for quality the car is up and running and is working perfectly. They did not have to do this, I would have had to purchase another turbo here in town for $250. This is the type of above and beyond customer service that is not found most places any longer. I highly recommend Silvers and will be going there with any of my future needs.

Sounds like one bad apple is ruining it for this place and that they don't really care about it. I will never call them because if they can't all be polite, I can't be bothered with the crap shoot of which one I'm gonna get. Thanks for the reviews, they were very helpful in making my decision NOT to use this pathetic place.

Definitely wont be going through these people for ANYTHING! I called to ask about a battery, and before I could even ask my question, the person who answered, not only interupted before I could even ask, but they were also VERY rude and VERY impolite. Not very happy with this place at all!

Called to ask a simple question. Was met with exasperated sighs and a promise that they'll give me nothing for my scrap. Extremely unsatisfied with how they speak to customers, and even more unsatisfied that they couldn't explain WHY they would give me nothing without being EXTREMELY rude. (Who the hell wants to GIVE their car away??? No one.)

Been going to Silvers for 30 years. Mike is a great guy and has always done everything he could to help us out. Best salvage yard around. PERIOD.

This this place his garbage! Everyone there are very RUDE when doing business with them recently. HIGHLY ADVISE anyone considering doing business with these creatures should look elsewhere!! Plenty of better options around.
