Specialty Salvage JunkYard Reviews
3.2 stars based on 10 reviews- LLaura Bondank
Chris is extremely helpful. I needed to get rid of an old car and he made the process very simple!

Hours on Google differ greatly from when they're actually willing to help you. I have a busy schedule, and their inability to be open when they're supposed to be is infuriating to say the least. It doesn't help my opinion of them that the employees always seem to be annoyed that you are even there. I would recommend going elsewhere, as they seem to not need your business.

After a delay in the initial drop off of our garbage containers we called the company and they immediately sent someone over to drop off the containers. Thank you!

I guess I was harsh with my review. Finding parts is very frustrating. So im changing the 1 star to a 3 because I have only been there this one time and looking back I must have been in a bad mood or something. Below I'll leave my original review.Went there looking for ford ranger parts they said they had nothing. Did ask what year or anything. More like a scrap yard not salvage.

I've just been reading some of these other reviews. Some of these people are hypercritical.I own a local business and find myself taking scrap to these guys to get it out of my shop quite a bit.Complaints about bad service and messiness.. are you people kidding? It is a scrap yard. On a typical visit I see 4-5 people in line at the scale- not because the staff is slow or incompetent, but because it takes time to unload. There's a process. People need their space back in the corner of the garage, or an extra few bucks to make it through the week.Again, owning a local business I see that some of you just think the world owes you. I see it daily. So, for the complaints about the staff not being quite courteous.. I've never seen worse than sarcasm in the decade I've gone here.Again, it's a scrap yard. Stop setting the bar so high. Be glad that Chris has his prices set higher. IMO, the staff is just hardened from decades of idiots trying to rip them off. Stop haggling, stop filling your loads with plastic and coaxial wire that isn't accepted. Stop thinking the world owes you.As for the staff, you guys work hard in a rough environment. Those of us whose heads aren't in our asses have noticed.

The good- they are usually paying more than anyone else. They have a new set up which it's a lot nicerThe bad- it's usually just George so you do load everything in the scales and take it to bins or drop it out in the yard yourself. Given the extra money I get I don't mind that so much. The ugly- sometimes it is a long process that takes some time again I don't mind given the amount I get versus other places.Overall- this is my go to place for scrapping. Better rates the new set up makes it even nicer.

This is a great place to go to get ripped off. Specially salvage will tell you one price and give another. I had a couple catalytic converters from a scrap car to turn in. I sent them a photo to their email with which they replied they would give me $141 if turned in together. Due to my work schedule, I had a relative take them in where he was given $111 and argument by the woman at the counter. They lack integrity and I will make the drive to Ovid to avoid these people.Update: Thank you for the reply. No where in the email is there any mention of a time frame what so ever. I actually came in personally before the date you stated. I was told by an employee that the person who could handle the catalytic converters doesn’t work Saturdays which was the first I was told, even after I mentioned being unavailable during the week to the woman I spoke with on the phone. I then had to arrange for someone else to bring them in during the week. You stated a price with no timeframe and I made an effort to get there as soon as possible. The result: I wasted my time and you changed the terms to what was more convenient for you. 1 star is accurate.Update: Thank you for proving my point here. A customer writes an honest review and the owner responds by relying on personal attacks of the customer to defend his position. I stated facts about what the situation was and when you didn’t like them, you start throwing insults because you have no argument. It is very clear when reading through your reviews that anytime anyone disagrees with you, you just start throwing insults. Here’s an idea, learn to take constructive criticism and work with people to come to a solution or at least an understanding. You’re right about one thing, this is a great learning experience for other potential customers. If someone does business with you and you don’t like something, they can expect to be treated with absolute disrespect. Thank you for showing your true colors for the world to see.

This business has to be one of the worst in Owosso as far as professionalism. I had an unfortunate encounter with this one over a week ago and have called them a number of times and have yet to receive a return call. I did run the story by other employees and assumed the owner would return my calls but now after discussing this with other residents in the community they basically told me "GOOD LUCK "!!What started this all was that I had just drove across a street in a residential area and their truck was positioned on the left of street and without looking this driver crossed right in front of me to reach the otherside of street.and I almost hit the back end of his truck and the other employee in the back of truck obviously didn't see me nor did the driver check his mirrors before that risky maneuver. Then he proceeded to just sit there so I checked for oncoming traffic, drove around in front of him, got out of my car and basically told him that he should be a little more careful as he could have caused an accident. He informed me that is was my fault because I was "speeding", which obviously was not true as I had just drove across the intersection where I had a stop sign. He continued to be belligerent to me so I walked a few more steps toward the middle of truck to read the owner of the truck and he shouted out to me "Yea, go ahead, take a good look"!! I did speak to a couple who were walking their dog when this "incident" took place because they at first noticed that both employees were shirtless then confirmed what Ihad gone through. I moved back to this community a few years ago and had asked several neighbors who they would suggest for waste/salvage most of them said "just don't go with "Speciality Salvage" because..............." It is sad that "business people" choose to run a business this way and in addition it trickles down the chain of command as well. I choose not to mention the name of my wonderful refuse service because that is not why I am sharing this. I am sure, as I have noticed several negative feedback comments from you that again everyone will be wrong you will be prepared to place the blame on them but as a business owner myself I welcome feedback on how to improve my business so as to draw more "clients" and keep the ones I have. Have a good day.

Horrible customer service at this company. I first called 6 months ago to get their trash removal service because when I moved into my new home the previous owner had left their curbside garage can. They told me that paperwork was being sent to my house for me to sign up for the service/pay. After I didn't recieve the paperwork for a week and a half I called back to see what was going on. They informed me that they forgot to put "East" on the mail. I asked them to resend the info and also email it to me. Again nothing came in my mailbox or in my email. Now one of their garbage cans have been sitting in my front yard for 6 months as a lawn decoration. I have called 5 time in the past 2 weeks to ask them to come and get it from my yard yet it remains. This is why customers are lost to Granger. And they only relationship i have with Granger is that they are the only reliable trash serbice that services my area. Poor service or poor employee training by management. This is back in response to the owner that just commented. Your curb side garbage was left here from the previous owner when I moved in. That's why it was here. And if that is not how you sign people up for service then you should probably train your employees properly because it's obvious they have no clue what they are doing. And you are correct, I do have a connection to Granger now because they are the only RELIABLE trash service that I have found that services this area.In response to the owner. May I ask what constitutes me as proving myself to be a liar? I have expressed my interactions with your company and they are 100% accurate. However, my conversations were never with you but the person you have answering your phone. So unless you record you phone calls you have no idea what happened or was said. And I never claimed to be a customer. I clearly stated I tried to get your service. Which did not happen and I am extremely grateful for now. Back to calling me a liar. Maybe you are just not educated enough to clearly read what I wrote and comprehend it which I would fully expect from someone who owns a company and expresses themselves in the manner in which you do to people that rate your company poorly. The customer may not always be right but the customer is still the customer and without them you would go under. So hopefully people look past your good/bad service and see the character of the person that owns this company and how he talks to the people that dislike his company. If you would like to discuss this further then feel free to call me. Otherwise, I feel people have a pretty good grasp of your customer service.I'm glad you THINK you know what happened but it doesn't change the facts. But it is still obvious you have no idea and are expressing your THOUGHTS on this page to make your company sound better. But how can you know what actually happened when we have never even spoke? Obviously your secretary isn't doing her job because I didn't get the service and you didn't get the message until now. And Granger didn't service my place in Colorado but there you go with assumptions again to make your company sound better. Also if you feel 6 months to get service and 2 weeks and 5 phone calls to have the curb cart picked up is "right away" then I feel bad for your customers. But I am glad to see you went back after your rant to edit your post and try to make it sound a little more professional yet you have still failed in that department. I was doing you a favor by giving your cart back in which you purchased and loaned to someone else when I could have taken it to the dump on one of my many trips to Granger. So not only do you have poor character and you are unprofessional, you are also ungrateful. So like I said before if you would like to discuss this further, feel free to call me, because every post you make shows your poor character to everyone looking at reviews of your service and furthers my point. I'm done responding to you. Best of luck. That's funny because I have done the same with yours. Please feel free :)
