Insurance Ripoff Artist. I would give them 0 stars if it would let me. Wife hit a deer with the car and Highway patrol had to have towed as it wouldn't run. Valley towed it 7 miles to their lot. They had it two days. Asked for the total, and it took her a day plus to figure it out and.... $350. What?!? For a 7 mile tow and 2 days of sitting? Tried to convince me it was most likely totaled as well. They get to drag it to salvage if it is totaled. I argued with her and she asked me what I thought it should be. I said 50 to 100 for the tow and maybe 25 a day to hold it. They live at the tow yard and this wasn't late night, it was 5:30 in the evening. She said her min was $75. She said I would get it all back with my insurance. Sorry not covered, thought it was otherwise I would have AAA. She then said she would take off the storage fee. Bill? $300. So it was $75 to hook it up and $225 to tow it 7 miles? That is over $30 a mile for towing. Insane attempt to price gouge as it is a remote area. Here is the kicker. I had asked for a quote when I first touched base with them the day after the accident , regarding towing it to my town. Mind you it is close to 90 miles from their yard to the town I am in in Kalispell. $450 total. So they will take a day and tow it almost 100 miles at $5 a mile but a quick local run? $30 a mile. Nothing like working the insurance angle. As she had my car in her compound I had to pay it to get my car. She again tried to tell me I would get it back with the insurance claim. She also told my relatives the same thing when they went down to collect the car. Towing is not covered by my policy. Must have told her that 3 times in conversations/ Talk about pumping the bill thinking insurance would take care of it. No wonder insurance is so expensive any more. I caution you highly to ask for a different tow service if possible and definitely report them to your insurance if you are forced to use them. NEVER EVER will I recommend nor use their service again! In fact I think the Highway patrol should take them off their list of tow companies to call.
