Customer reviews of ACME Markets in Hoboken, NJ

I've been shopping here for years and the store is going downhill. I got to know some of the workers that have been there for a while and they're gone and their departments are becoming a mess. The younger guy Jeremy in charge of pricing and older lady Denise that ran the healthcare section did an amazing job and now that they're no longer there both are going downhill and are a complete mess. If this keeps up I'll have to shop elsewhere.

Store is nice, Staff is nice but except one cashier who is an old lady at the register who looked so mad before I even got to her register and she kept saying "unbelievable" "disgusting" looking at me and was being so rude that I had to say thank you and leave the store as fast as I could!!! I seriously was the most polite with her and started the convo with "hey, how are you?" getting nothing in response but trash talk in low volume from her. I feel like the manager who is a sweet lady knows about all of this but can't do anything about it!

Be very careful when your see offers in the store and don't pay until you check that everything is been charged correctly. Otherwise not only there might be no way to challenge anything but you might be treated very poorly for trying to do so. I was charged an amount different to the price label for a pack of 6 beers in the liquor store. I showed the price and the women came up with some excuse of smaller packs of 4 beers and some bizarre rant about alcohol taxes. I took a picture of the label and tried to show her that the label clearly showed the correct pack size, but the women treated me like I was trying to scam her, she even question if the picture was from the store and then she completely dismissed me repetidly with no will to listen anything at all until I lost my nerve. She could have handled me so easily if she had any kind customer service ability. She could at least had a look at the label and the volume in the label and simply say that there was a mistake. I'm very happy to be proven wrong but at least I think I deserved to be listened to. And even if she wouldn't be able to honor the price on the label, a simple sorry the label is wrong would have gone a long way. Instead I left the shop feeling completely embarrassed in front of my 3 years old daughter and my wife, after getting in a heated argument about trivial amount that escalated so quickly. I know that I probably hav some customer rights protections but who can get into these things for a few dollars. I can't say if this is part of the store policy or not but clearly some people should not be allowed to be in client facing positions and it reflects very poorly in the company. Never had such kind of incident in the other large supermarket nearby where they always have a great attitude and are always happy to correct any issues with prices. Edit: added the price showing that it's for 96 fluid ounces (6 cans of 16foz) and not for 64 fluid ounces like the employee repeated over and over without bothering to check the label. After more careful examination the offer seems to have expired in May 28, which explains why it wasn't registered in the POS, my visit was 5th of July. So the offer was on display expired for 38 days without anyone removing it. The most basic check by the employee could have pointed this out without neededing to get into an argument.
