Customer reviews of Guy's Auto Repair in Mason City, IL

Let me start this off by saying that I understand nobody is perfect and no Shop is completely honest… But my experience with Guy has not been great from the beginning. I’ve taken several vehicles to him to be fixed one of them being my 2009 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD. For front end issues first time I took it to him he He did an alignment on it. I made it about 5 miles and noticed there was something seriously wrong. Checked the front suspension found one of the nuts on the upper control arm completely loose finger tight and out of adjustment took it back he fixed it and apologized, but the truck continued to have a alignment issues took it back two more times in his defense. The second time I came late the steering wheel was not sitting correctly and it pulled a little bit. I brought it back. He fixed the steering wheel it still pulls to the left with brand new front tires on it brand new suspension that he put on. Second, I took my girlfriend‘s car up there for starter issues, even pointed him in the right direction told him it had an aftermarket alarm on it he claimed he could not figure it out. I brought it home, fix it myself because of that issue we started looking to buy another vehicle. Guy said he had a 2018 trax Talk the car up real good and said it was a one owner real good car said several times to me and my girlfriend, but if anything went wrong with this car, he would take care of us….. Second day of ownership, we had to put a new battery in the car I went to Guy said something to him. He didn’t seem too interested in helping with the battery or even apologetic. Then we took the car to Michigan and kept smelling burning oil took the car back to him. He quoted me over $1600 to fix it once again did not seem interested in keeping his word about taking care of the car, I just kind of chalked it up as a loss wasn’t gonna say much about it and was going to be done dealing with him, but he recently the card developed a stutter and barely will stay running unless you’re on the gas so I went to Guy again today told him what was going on. He told me he would look at it but pretty much it was my baby. He wasn’t gonna help in anyway asking me how long he should take care of the car after he sold it well we’ve had the car for less than 5000 miles within the first three weeks of our ownership. It started having problems. He didn’t do anything then I’m sure you’re reading this now and saying you shouldn’t have to take care of the car forever and you’re right but at least the first oil change make sure it’s not gonna totally financially devastate the customer you sold it to claiming it was a great car You charged us top dollar for this vehicle with the promise of if anything went wrong majorly you would take care of it for being a preacher. I’m sure you made God very sad today and you make the whole mechanic industry. You look bad with stuff like this I have a lot more mess ups that I could list off that you did my mower my silver truck that you couldn’t even figure out that you needed to reprogram a throttle body I had to tell you … overall, I do not recommend taking a vehicle to this Shop while they might get you in right away and seem super friendly, their work is subpar they forget to tighten bolts and overcharge

To say that Guy, Rick & Mary have treated me & my vehicle like family is an understatement! From the shop to the office, the quality of their work, their professionalism & their willingness to get to the root of the problem, surpasses any shop I’ve ever encountered! I wouldn’t take my vehicle anywhere else & neither should you! Don’t take my word for it! Come see for yourself! Friendly! Reliable! Affordable!

This garage has been a lifesaver. On 3 different occasions I needed my car fixed fast (only one vehicle and worked out of town). He had the parts within 24hrs and repairs done by the end of the day he received them. Fair priced and always friendly! Highly recommend!
