Beware: They close early! Their stated hours are from 7am-7pm Mon-Sat but I was there on a weekday before 7pm and they had closed early. Other than that, if you manage to get there at a time when they decide to actually show up, the area is clean and well-organized. Although the only paper you can recycle is cardboard boxes and the only plastic they recycle is #1 & #2, so there's a lot of limitations, and ultimately a lot goes to waste that could be recycled. And Yancey County: you can't say you'll prosecute folks for dropping trash off "after hours" if those people have come DURING your open hours but you closed early.

Hours have changed on Saturday. It is 8 to noon according to the sign… which was a surprise since both their Google maps listing and telephone message say 7 to 7. Wasted trip, time and gas. Y’all change this please!!!

Has been closing at 4pm for seveal months. They refuse to update the hours on there answering service. They try to close earlier than that also, they literally roll the gates closed before 4pm. They think that 4 is when they leave, not when they close.
