The George Washington Ferry Farm is a nice re-creation of the original homestead. The group rebuilding the farm to its original state have done a good job giving visitors a glimpse into the past. Nice tour gives you a back history. Very nice stroll around the grounds gives you a perspective on the General's Life. Take an hour and enjoy.

I really enjoyed coming here, it was like going to Mt. Vernon but a lot smaller and easier for small children. We signed up for a program and tour and the guide Jeanne was incredible. She spoke at the right levels for the kids and was so gentle and fun with them. This place is still under Seuss I am hoping to come back when the kitchen is replicated.

Washington's Ferry Farm was the first stop on my wife's and my three-day historic sites tour of the Fredericksburg area and it was by far the most enjoyable and informative. From the staff at the visitors' center (Sharon, especially!) to the history interpreters (Richard was incredible!) that guided us through the house and described the farm and grounds, everyone was so kind and helpful. The reconstructed home is beautiful, and the view of the Rappahannock River is amazing. The ongoing archeological exploration of the farm is evident with a tent and roped-off area, but the quarters, storage buildings, and garden are still easily accessible, as is the Ferry Road and the house itself. This site is well worth the visit.
