I run an auto mechanic shop. I know from past experiences that I Barneys wasn't my first choice, but sometimes they are the only people that have the part. I called them for an axle, they had to pull it. I wasn't able to get there immediately as I live 2 hours away, so I called and offered to pay over the phone but they assured me they would set it aside for me and wouldn't sell it. It had been a week or so, and I still wasn't finding time, so I sent my father up there to grab the axle. He drove two hours and was told they sold it, but could pull another one if he wanted to wait an hour and a half or so. Never again. Don't waste your time. Have a part shipped from a reputable salvage yard. I told my father it's up to him if he wants to wait, as he was already doing me a favor, but I'd rather pay double for a part that would actually be there when they say it is, or have one shipped in from a place I trust.

Barney, I had quite an unpleasant conversation with you yesterday. If I could give 0 stars I would. I called up Barney's looking for a TBI intake for my 1993 suburban. Upon checking their parts list online I see they have the intake I need, but potentially another obscure intake I am interested in. I explain this to the individual on the phone. Specifically, I state I want a TBI intake for the 93 suburban, but if they have the one off of the 1996 G30 van I would buy that one too. The individual responds, "So how many total? 2? Okay we will get 2 pulled and call you." Click...the phone hangs up without me confirming. Knowing that there was some miscommunication I drove down there trying to save them time on pulling the incorrect part. I walk in and start explaining the situation to a man at the counter when another man interjects and takes over the situation. He asks how many intakes I wanted, grabs an intake from the back-room, and brings it out to discuss. We go back and forth about the nuances of old SBC stuff (Pre-87 intake pattern, 88-95 TBI pattern, and 96+ Vortec pattern). At this point I learn I am talking to the owner, Barney himself. He starts to get rather rude and insists I have no idea what I am talking about. He actually told me "Nope, GM never did anything like that." Understanding that I am looking for a very obscure, one year only item I respond, "I am willing to be completely wrong, but would you be willing to walk out in the yard and look at it together? I will be able to tell you if it is the one I am looking for within seconds, and maybe we can both learn something new." Absolutely opposed to this he tells me "NO, I'm not wasting my time on that." I was fully intent on buying TWO intake manifolds from them, but I left with nothing. But it gets better. Confused, I returned home and did a little more digging. Barney, If you're reading this (it's a 1 star review you probably should be) I have included some links for you. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tbi/336915-1996-g30hd-vans-vortec.html This forum discusses in detail the obscurity of the intake I am looking for, and explains that not only do they exist, but why they exist. The discussion also references a GMPP intake made for this application, and the similarities to the factory van intake (it was likely the exact same intake simply sold through GMPP). https://www.gmperformancemotor.com/parts/12496821.html?srsltid=AfmBOorglh3fPhqUHxlZ0tTR_AwhEtKhv1Ss3K4KcmTwzJQ0x-Ol5sv7 And here is a link to that specific GMPP intake. Again, Barney assured me GM never made anything like this. I was absolutely blown away that the owner would rather sit in the office and argue than sell me nearly $300 dollars worth of aluminum junk. If you happen to want to change your ways, I am still interested in this intake and would be willing to go for a walk out in the yard together. Clear this up and I am willing to change my review, forgiveness is important.

Purchased one of their salvage cars. Picked up for a fair price and got the title quickly. 2016 Lincoln MKX with 66k miles $8,700.

Sold me two obviously bent wheels. I paid for the return shipping, and had to call four times spanning over a month (always had a thin excuse queued up right away) in order to get a refund. Wouldn't refund the shipping charges, never-mind the fact that I sent them back due to them never inspecting/sending me faulty parts in the first place. Avoid this place if you're an online shopper. Clearly mis-managed, and leans on scummy refund policy.

Called and checked price for tires. They had what we needed for a low price. We double checked tire specifications over the phone. Everything was what we needed and good to go. Drove almost 2 hrs to get the tires. Got there and they were NOT AT ALL the tires they said they were over the phone, dispite double and triple verifying with them to make sure they were the correct tires for our truck. We asked to speak to a manager....we were already speaking to him. Told him we were a little upset we drove so far for these tires and they were completely wrong for our truck. His response was "oh well" horrible service and don't know what they are doing!

Do yourself a favor and spend your money anywhere else, bought a good used motor from them or so they claimed, ordered my motor got it to the shop wrong one! Not a big deal it happens but it’s gonna put me further behind finally they got the correct motor pulled, when I went to pick up the correct motor no chains or tools were used in loading my motor I paid for but no worries they can just grab the fork lift and pick it up by the pan with the forks, no big deal I can live with it I have a pan on my old Motor I can use, got it in and running after all the delays and BB set backs ends up having 0 oil pressure and it was burning coolant internally, they offered to to have me pull the motor back out and bring it up there to get an exchange or refund well the trucks not worth the labor of swapping motors again let alone pulling it out for a refund but by the sounds of other comments that’s an average day around Barney’s

By far some of the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. I’ve called there now twice and was treated like I was a bother like my business was not important. I was told they had other calls to tend to! Just incredible This place is still in business I will not be doing anything with them highly recommend avoiding them.

Back in time when the old man run the business, he managed to satisfy customers needs. Now it went down the drain. Waste of time to deal with this company, simply avoid it. If this place will disappear I’m not going to miss it.

My wife called to order a door for our truck Friday. Was told they could get one from another yard... about 5 business days. She gave her debit card info over the phone... including 3 digit security code as it is to be paid on the spot. Fast forward to Wednesday, no money has been taken out of our account and we have heard nothing from anyone at Barney's. Called and was told the original door they thought they had was actually bad (from the other salvage yard), and that they were looking for a different one. While we appreciate that, I was not happy that my wife had given out her card information and we received radio silence from Barney's. They should have called us. Communication is key, I'd rather be over informed than under informed. She then called and talked to the manager (maybe Scott?) And he was pretty much saying they were not going to call until they had heard from 2 different yards they were looking at. Long story ending.... Call your customers when things are going wrong so they know you didn't just take her card info and run with it.... Communication!!!!!

My experience was very positive and I am completely pleased with the service I received. I researched on the Internet to find what I wanted at Barney's; I called them on a Saturday to say I could be there on Monday; the guy I spoke to worked with me to negotiate a good price for the motor; I arrived and all went smooth as silk. Each person I met was friendly and helpful.

Not Impressed at all!! Had a guy drive 5 hours one way, gets back with not only the wrong part but not a usable part either. Talked to the owner and he said he personally checked the part out himself not even 30 days prior. Well when one side of the differential won't move with a 3 foot bar and a 200lb guy um sorry Bernie you should probably have someone who knows the difference in usable and not usable parts do the checking. And try and inventory them so people get the right parts

Drove 2 hours from Iowa to buy an RV that we said we would positively buy & sold it out from under us an hour before we got there! No call to us asking if we were coming still or not. Should have known a junk man would screw us.

Definitely a place to avoid. Some years ago, I needed an alternator for my car, and we went here after my friend's first choice was closed that weekend and the second choice didn't have the specific style I needed. No sooner than I'd paid and we were walking out the door when I realized they'd sold me an alternator with a CRACKED housing. I pointed this out and the guy seemed a bit aggravated and said one would have to be pulled. It wasn't that long a wait, but we did have to clean off the cables that had been cut off (no wonder it was quick). And just to make it more interesting, that alternator lasted only a few days before it quit. Ended up buying a remanufactured unit from one of the car parts stores here in town.

They gave me the wrong part so I had to go return it and of course they charged me the 25% while waiting for my money back the lady was on the phone with a customer and heard that they gave them the wrong part as well so... I dont like this place! Yes sir u probably need my $11 more than I do for restocking fee so whoever goes here again make sure u take your part before u buy it from this place!!!!

guys are as rude and un-appreciative as they can be. almost never call back, never have time for you, treat customers like they are a burden. They must have some regular customers that they treat well, because there is know way that the general walk ins are keeping this place open. they get one star since it's the only way i can post this. PLACE IS A JOKE DON"T WASTE YOUR TIME

I just got off the phone with quite possibly the worst example of customer service I have ever experienced... Immediately into my inquiry of a 2004 Ford Escape wheel, your unhelpful employee expects that I'm an expert in automotive mechanics and basically makes a mockery of my inquiry. It was as if I was wasting his time. I should mention, I wasn't even on the phone with him for a minute. He managed to force me to hang up before that. Its a shame how an event like this shatters one's perception of a business.

I needed a drive shaft for my 2013 Subaru Forester, they had it pulled out for a pretty decent price and had everything ready by the time I came in there to pick it up. Overall I'd say it's a pretty decent place, somewhat dated, but I dont expect any glam from a junk yard....

Buyer beware! Looking at a vehicle that was only supposed to have 81,000 miles on it. Had a salvage yard motor in it still written in blue numbers! Barney says that's the original motor!?! Appearance showed probably well over a hundred and fifty?

I bought a pickup from Barneys and a few days after buying it the transmission locked up. Barney went above and beyond what I could have even wished for. He had it towed to a shop, repaired and back to me within a couple days and all paid for by him. I couldn't ask for better service and a great truck.

This is a salvage yard and parts fail. That's why you are going to the salvage yard! Every problem I have had with a part: they stood behind it. Maybe a bit gruff but so what. Best used prices in town. Everytime they have quoted miles on the vehicle (for me to determine the part wear) when I was taken out to the vehicle is was exactly correct.

I called for a blinker socket, a socket! You know what a tiny little bulb goes into, he quoted me $25!!! For a little light socket! If it were gold i'd have bought it, but as far as i know its a tiny piece of plastic with a couple wires coming from it. I can't believe he's still in business......
