I run an auto mechanic shop. I know from past experiences that I Barneys wasn't my first choice, but sometimes they are the only people that have the part. I called them for an axle, they had to pull it. I wasn't able to get there immediately as I live 2 hours away, so I called and offered to pay over the phone but they assured me they would set it aside for me and wouldn't sell it. It had been a week or so, and I still wasn't finding time, so I sent my father up there to grab the axle. He drove two hours and was told they sold it, but could pull another one if he wanted to wait an hour and a half or so. Never again. Don't waste your time. Have a part shipped from a reputable salvage yard. I told my father it's up to him if he wants to wait, as he was already doing me a favor, but I'd rather pay double for a part that would actually be there when they say it is, or have one shipped in from a place I trust.

Barney, I had quite an unpleasant conversation with you yesterday. If I could give 0 stars I would. I called up Barney's looking for a TBI intake for my 1993 suburban. Upon checking their parts list online I see they have the intake I need, but potentially another obscure intake I am interested in. I explain this to the individual on the phone. Specifically, I state I want a TBI intake for the 93 suburban, but if they have the one off of the 1996 G30 van I would buy that one too. The individual responds, "So how many total? 2? Okay we will get 2 pulled and call you." Click...the phone hangs up without me confirming. Knowing that there was some miscommunication I drove down there trying to save them time on pulling the incorrect part. I walk in and start explaining the situation to a man at the counter when another man interjects and takes over the situation. He asks how many intakes I wanted, grabs an intake from the back-room, and brings it out to discuss. We go back and forth about the nuances of old SBC stuff (Pre-87 intake pattern, 88-95 TBI pattern, and 96+ Vortec pattern). At this point I learn I am talking to the owner, Barney himself. He starts to get rather rude and insists I have no idea what I am talking about. He actually told me "Nope, GM never did anything like that." Understanding that I am looking for a very obscure, one year only item I respond, "I am willing to be completely wrong, but would you be willing to walk out in the yard and look at it together? I will be able to tell you if it is the one I am looking for within seconds, and maybe we can both learn something new." Absolutely opposed to this he tells me "NO, I'm not wasting my time on that." I was fully intent on buying TWO intake manifolds from them, but I left with nothing. But it gets better. Confused, I returned home and did a little more digging. Barney, If you're reading this (it's a 1 star review you probably should be) I have included some links for you. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tbi/336915-1996-g30hd-vans-vortec.html This forum discusses in detail the obscurity of the intake I am looking for, and explains that not only do they exist, but why they exist. The discussion also references a GMPP intake made for this application, and the similarities to the factory van intake (it was likely the exact same intake simply sold through GMPP). https://www.gmperformancemotor.com/parts/12496821.html?srsltid=AfmBOorglh3fPhqUHxlZ0tTR_AwhEtKhv1Ss3K4KcmTwzJQ0x-Ol5sv7 And here is a link to that specific GMPP intake. Again, Barney assured me GM never made anything like this. I was absolutely blown away that the owner would rather sit in the office and argue than sell me nearly $300 dollars worth of aluminum junk. If you happen to want to change your ways, I am still interested in this intake and would be willing to go for a walk out in the yard together. Clear this up and I am willing to change my review, forgiveness is important.
