Great place for auto repair service. The friendly crew at Carpenter's does a good job and they work hard to get your vehicle finished in a reasonable amount of time. I have been pleased with the service I have received here.

I was treated rudely and was not even given the time of day. Even though I spoke with someone who told me something completely different. Instead of the gentleman asking the man that I spoke to he dismissed me and was very short. We were traveling from another state and understand the short notice but it could’ve been handled a lot differently. Went next door to Flynn’s and they were very helpful to deal with!

Took my vehicle here to have my engine replaced. Was told 5 days and ended up taking a little over 2 weeks. I asked for a pre inspection to be done since it was that time of year and was told the only thing that was wrong were brakes and rotors. I decided doing it myself and spent a couple hundred bucks opposed to the $700 quote for them to do it .I took it back to get the inspection finalized and they realized the ball joint was bad. Again I decided to do it myself for 80 bucks opposed to the $300 I was being quoted . One of the biggest reasons I got the engine replaced was because obviously it needed it but the new engine had a great warranty. 12 months or 12,000 miles. They forgot to give me the warranty coverage the first time I was in. Upon going back I was given a 3 month warranty.

We have had all wonderful experiences with Carpenters. They guarantee their work (which is why they won't use parts other's purchase- they stand behind the products they use). And yes, they will let you know everything that is wrong with your vehicle, which I appreciate. After having other places only fix the minimal to pass an inspection, I always ran into bigger problems later on that could have been fixed and ultimately saved money. But instead, the problems (like my transmission) was ignored and on my way I went unaware... Only to save a little cash before the problems became bigger and more costly. Jeff has always worked with us and will explain what needs fixed- many times my husband was able to do the work himself. Carpenter's has our recommendation for quality work.

I originally took my car to Griffin Motors where they said I needed a new transmission. I'm not stupid enough to pay a dealer garage to do anything to my car. So I made an appointment and dropped it off at Carpenters on a Tuesday. He said they where pretty busy but could look at it on Friday. I said no big deal, I was lucky enough to have another vehicle. After two weeks since dropping it off I called them. My wife works in Meadville so could see after two weeks it still hadn't moved. They said they didn't have a chance to work on it but would get to it by the end of the week. I said ok, fast forward another two weeks. I still haven't heard anything again. I know a transmission rebuild or replacement can take some time. But a month! I called again and someone answers, I ask if there is any news on my vehicle. He puts me on hold and the owner gets on. You'll know him when you call,he's the one who speaks like he knows everything. He said hello?, Then proceeds to act like he can't hear me. Everything I would say, immediataly after would say hello?. I said something along the line that I knew he could hear me. The first person who answered heard me fine and I hadn't moved. He finally acknowledged me after a couple minutes. I ask if there is any word on my vehicle. He proceeds to stutter his way to a, you wouldn't happen to have another key because we lost the one you gave us. I could not believe what I was hearing. He proceeded to say how he wasn't going to replace it because he wasn't responsible to lost or stolen items. I was fortunate enough to have a spare and went and picked it up. I took it to a place in Erie called automatic transmissions of Erie. It turns out I didn't need a new transmission after all. Only thing was my fluid was low.

If I could give them 0 stars, I would. Went there for an inspection. 3 and half hours later we get handed a list of 18 things that would cost just under $1600 to fix to supposedly pass inspection. Immediately had setup a second opinion. $200 for wheel bearings and motor mount to pass inspection. This was not the first case the second mechanic had heard Carpenters trying to take advantage of people. Use this place only if it's the only place left standing after a nuclear war! Consumers beware!

We cannot say enough about Carpenter's. We were stranded in Conneaut Lake for Labor Day with a broken down car. Jeff (owner and manager) not only answered our call on his day off, but offered to examine our car and give his expertise on its care so that we could get home (to Toledo, Ohio) safely. Jeff was transparent, honest and reassuring. Please consider his services. Thank you, Jeff!

Went down today to see if Jeff and his team had time to fit me into their day, they got me in same day for an oil change. Short notice, not to mention it was the same price as if I would have bought the filter and oil myself. Thanks guys, will for sure be coming back.

Went for an inspection and they handed me a laundry list of needed repairs and an outrageous price to do so. Took my vehicle to a more trusted place recommended by a friend and was given a far more reasonable estimate. Was also shown exactly what needed to be fixed rather than merely being handed a paper with things written on it. Worst part is some of the things required by the first place were not actually needed.
