I reached out to every single Toyota dealership in Montana for a new 22 Tundra. The team at Helena Toyota was by FAR the most professional, respectful and easy going people I have ever worked with…and I spent 8 years in the car business! My salesman Randy kept me up to date, they worked hard and offered me great financing and when my own bank came back with a better rate, there was no arm twisting or fuss. They simply sent me a purchase order and said thank you. I went in to sign my paperwork and they had my trade inspected, paperwork done and ready and I signed and was out of there in less than 30 minutes. Helena Toyota has a forever customer in me now and absolutely anyone who asks me where to go for the best car buying experience.

Service Department - Under preformed every time. When you walk in, no one ever greats you. You have to approach a service tech and all of them seem to refuse to make eye contact. In addition, they make a bunch of recommendations for your vehicle, but don’t check the service records to verify that those recommendations were already completed on the last trip in. This turns their recommendations into a concern that they’re actually looking at your vehicle or just going off their book of what they should be recommending. We’ve only been using Helena Toyota so when we go to resell (if we do) the service records will be in the system. We’ll try taking our vehicles down to Bozeman from now on and see if we can get better, more accurate service.

I recently purchased my second vehicle from this dealership and had thesame excellent service as two years ago! Dave C. and John A. provided exceptional support in the process. I would highly recommend driving to this dealer from all over Montana to receive fair pricing and a happy car buying experience. Thank you!!

We’d LIKE to like Helena Toyota, but every service experience we’ve had with them has been far and away the worst of anywhere we’ve lived. Our first set of incidents revolved around a door handle that stopped working for our older (but perfect) Lexus SC400 coupe. It required a $2 part that they apparently couldn’t find. Here’s what happened:1. The first problem was communication. The service writer would never tell us what was happening. We called and left messages over days, then 2 weeks, with no response. We emailed the service writer's direct email address a few times, still with no response. After over 2 weeks we finally had to drive out to the dealership to see what was happening. That was when we were finally told the difficulty of finding a part.2. After nearly 3 weeks, the dealership found the part on Amazon. They replaced the part and the door worked. However, they left four 2-inch long screws on the floor of the back seat. When the service writer was asked, she said they belonged in the door and they would take care of it. We very much doubt they did.3. When picking up the car yet again, they forgot to wash it as promised. We figured they could do that much after nearly a month, so we asked. They ran the car through the wash with the stereo on and antenna up, destroying the antenna. After finding that part, they did replace it days later.4. We asked them to find replacement trunk struts. They never tried. The service writer told me it could take “months”. They just weren’t interested. But a local repair shop found them on the Toyota website in 90 seconds. We should have asked them about the original door part. The next set of incidents concerned a 2009 Prius. We asked them to reattach the car’s primary radio antenna after an out-of-town stereo shop had neglected to do so when installing a SiriusXM radio. We also asked for an oil change. Here’s how that went:1. They reattached the antenna properly, but in doing so rendered the compartment below the stereo inoperable. The door to the compartment sticks.2. We began to smell a strong odor in the car when the heater was on. Opening the hood, we found the oil cap had not been replaced and oil covered the formerly-pristine engine. Our moral to this story is that they have yet to do anything right, nor communicate at all. We bought a new 2019 RAV4 Hybrid Limited but could not bring ourselves to buy it there, instead buying it in Utah. But we have no idea where to have it serviced … it’s too bad there’s only one Toyota dealership in town. Something is badly broken with management and execution in the service department. We hate to leave negative reviews, but this was too much.ADDENDUM FOUR MONTHS LATER:The theme described above is further confirmed by their response to posts like this one. To see a clear difference, look at Google reviews for Toyota of Bozeman. They respond to reviews and try to rectify problems. Here? Crickets.

Sell cars that are actually worth the price with no problems when they leave the lot. I got my Jetta here with one major problem I was not aware of. When I hit a patch of ice, THE ABS TURNS OFF ALONGSIDE EVERYTHING ELSE LIKE TRACTION CONTROL! DURING THE WINTER! I then traded my Jetta in for a 2013 Rav4 2wd last year (Big mistake once again). When I test drove it, I was experiencing a minor shutter and a jerk when first driving it. I asked them why it jerked for no reason. Their response was "that's normal". Yeah right. It is only when the car shifts from second to third gear. Once the transaction was over, I drove it straight home (Great Falls). Experienced the shuttering more and more. I was thinking to myself I had made a massive mistake once again. Once I got home, I realized that my tire pressure light was on. I filled it, made sure it was rotated, and everything at my local tire store. I was told that my sensor was broken... Great. Got it replaced and paid out of pocket. The shuttering was caused by the Torque Converter. Luckily the car had one more year left on the warranty to get that replaced or it would have been 2000$+. I'm still experiencing the shifting problem daily and it pisses me off. I will never recommend this company to anyone if they were looking for a car. From one problem car to the next...Update (9/2/2021)- another issue popped up. My car won’t start. Been in the shop for the past month. I swear to you, problem after problem with these cars.

So about a month ago I bought a van from them. When we test drove it everything was great, but a couple weeks later a sound started in my engine, and my power steering would groan when I turned at slow speeds. Took it in for a diagnostic, and turns out the repair is $3,700. All their used cars are as is of course, and it is a risk with buying used, but it clearly wasn’t a new issue, so they sold me the van knowing about it and didn’t bat an eye. So now, the van I bought to get me to and from classes at Carroll and work, and also as a way to start building my credit for the future, isn’t even really able to drive safely, and if I want to be able to drive it I need to pay for repairs that are over half the price I bought it for. Like I said, it’s a used car, and I bet they’re great for if you’re buying new, but used? I wouldn’t trust them at all, not when they sold it to me without even the barest mention of an issue with the power steering. It’s been almost a year since I bought the van and it hasn’t gotten any better. I tried to get into contact with them through their website to talk about the repair deal they offered. Nothing. Which is a shame, because it made me think it was maybe just a one off, but the fact that they never got back to me makes me think it was just an offer for show, that way they would look better. Another issue did arise with the van, the front air went out during the coldest week of the year. Although this issue is marginally cheaper to fix, it was one I asked the salesperson about as it seemed loud in my opinion. He said he would talk to the mechanic about it. When he came back he said the mechanic just said it was a loud system. Considering it went out, that clearly wasn’t the truth. Ultimately, I would just really avoid buying one of their used vehicles unless it is one of those Toyota certified ones, because despite the talk about them giving all the bad vehicles to the smaller dealerships, they clearly have no problem keeping them and selling them to customers to make quick money.

The service department was slow they told me if I brought my vehicle in that they would get to it the following morning it was two days later before they even looked at it with no call. They did the repair which was fine but expensive. They say they do a full inspection but they killed my battery while it was in there it would not start when I showed up so they had to jump it and they just told me it was probably cold put the battery has had zero issue prior to this. The female service manager that works in there is really rude and terrible to have to interact with at all. she is really terrible and I hope that someone does something about it. Assistant that help me the other time was a man and he was very nice. Overall I hope I never have to go back there for any kind of maintenance or parts.

I did my research in looking for a new or pre-owned vehicle. I found several vehicles that I was interested in looking at. I went in with my list and was assisted by a nice sales person. I narrowed my search down to one vehicle. When it came time to talk numbers and financing, the car I had looked at and had been interested in was magically $4,000 more than what was listed on their website. I was undoubtedly frustrated with the situation. I spent time test driving and narrowing down my decision. Had I known the car I liked was out of my budget, I would have never considered it. I even discussed my budget with the salesperson while test driving the vehicle. He looked at the same vehicle on the website I did and never told me it wasn't the listed price on their website. I never once received an apology or asked how the situation could be rectified. Needless to say, I didn't buy the car and will take my business elsewhere.

I was traveling through in a long trip from Massachusetts. Needed a place to get my oil changed on my Tacoma. Called day before. They said coming in for 1:30 on Saturday. I arrived. They had a place where I could park my camper. Service manager Zach was wonderful. They changed the oil and check over whole truck. Took a little over an hour, which was good because I didn’t want them to rush. Very reasonably priced. Excellent!!! Thanks so much Helena Toyota!
