Knik Salvage JunkYard Reviews

6 month wait time to get anything; engine, trans, axles. & they want full payment up front. … that’s not how you run a junk yard.
- TTim M
Awesome company, these guys do a great job and they are honest. They double check all their work so they can ensure you are getting the correct part at the best price. Troy was very helpful in my transaction. I'll definitely keep them in mind for the future
- MMagnus Osmond
I wouldn’t get parts here if you had a option first off they have no problem lying to you over the phone or right to your face, I don’t think they know what customer service is or they just don’t care what your saying not quite sure. And they don’t really seem to care about anything but getting your money as soon as possible.

Needed a simple switch off of a door. They had the part. It was an extremely easy part to pull but they would not let me do it and told me it would take them 3 weeks to pull it. Went online and found the same part for less money including delivery and had it delivered to my door in three days. I like to support local businesses, but some are not worth my efforts to support. I will not be going back to this yard.

Said they had part but 3 weeks to pull it ridiculous. Then said another yard had part went there they kept me waiting all day then said didn't really have part. Called knik back next day wouldn't put me on list to get part till drove back to verify right part then raise price 60 dollars more when sent someone to check on part I live 350 miles inland. Rotten service.
- CChad Montgomery
They were polite, had the part I needed, and most of all, charged an appropriate price for a used part unlike another nearby salvage yard. I'll definitely be back next time I need a quick part. Thanks for the good work!

I do not give out bad reviews lightly. I purchased a part on January 7. Four months later after calling faithfully every couple of weeks I am told the part does not exist. They took my credit card three times. I called them 5 times for follow-up Feb 7, March 2, March 15, March 16, April 1 and today, and was assured that I was on their list. Knick then called back and stated they do not have the part. I am not giving a bad review for the above, though. This happens in this business. What I am giving a one star review for is after they so obviously dropped the ball, they were completely unwilling to help me get the part from another salvage yard in their network. I wasn't looking for a refund or a special deal, just for them to pick up the phone and call a L48 yard and get the part that is right on the screen in front of them. In short, they didn't care.

Been go in here for 15 years. Used to be a great place. Can’t get anybody on the phone. Can’t get anybody to return calls. I’m sure they’re struggling logistically and I understand labor shortages etc. etc. Not my problem. Answer your phone or take your business off Google

Zero stars. Terrible customer service! I called for a status report for 3 days in a row because each day I was told it was “being worked on now.” The person answering the phones finally told me, “two weeks out.” That was after I was told two weeks prior that it was two weeks out. He finally told me calling and bugging them would make it take longer. The part I was looking for takes 10 minutes to remove from a vehicle (which I offered to do myself). I understand the staff shortage everywhere, but treating people rudely is not acceptable. The amount of time he spent being rude on the phone with just me was all it would have taken to pull the part.

Terrible communicators. Spent 3 hours and 50 bucks in gas to drive out from Anchorage because they said they had something, but after I spend an hour looking for it and find it, they tell me that I can't buy it until they look to see if they already sold it to somebody and even though it was all disconnected and just laying there, they couldn't have somebody walk over and pick it up for me. I could have easily picked it up myself and walked it to the office, no pulling involved.
- VVasilly Yaromich
Had many warnings about dealing with these guys. Rarely get ahold of them, waited a week for a fender with broken bumper tabs and dents, and they still priced it higher than what it costs to get a new one, left the part on the counter and left because it was unusable
- TTanya Kocur
If I could give zero stars, it wouldn't be low enough! I really wish I would have read these reviews prior to conducting any business with this despicable company. I live in Anchorage and called about a specific tail light which they said they indeed have. Drove out, picked it up and when I got back to the shop it was found that they had mislabeled the light for the wrong side! I called to inform them of this mistake and was told I would get a call back in a few minutes. The next day I received a call and they left a recording stating that I could return the part by 3pm. I drove back out and was told they needed a receipt. This was not mentioned in the recording and it was the same man in each of my interactions. I can understand company policy however asked for a compromise such as me leaving the part their, returning home in Anchorage and email the receipt. I was told “nope” and then a gentleman who later identified himself as the owner, Mr. Webster, proceeded to tell me everyone always always wants to tell him how to run his business. If that wasn’t worse enough, he stated I must not be running a good business if I needed the money back so bad! I literally have never in my life been treated with such wretched customer service. I will make it a mission of mine to warn every possible patron I come in contact with to avoid conducting any business dealings with this establishment.

These guys are the worst ive ever dealt with 1st of all took them 4 months to pull a motor then they only offer a 30 day warranty that starts day of sale not day of install then when i brought the core back for a refund they refused bc of no original reciept quote " i dont want to make a copy" from the same salesperson. I suggest northwest autoparts they give a standard 3 month warranty with a option to purchase a 1 year warranty they will find you the part even if its outta state and have it in 2weeks time. I only gave a star bc you have to to post a review they dont deserve that much.

This might be the worst place to try and use in the history of salvage. The people at the counter will ignore you, and when they do finally care enough to talk, they're rude as hell. They don't properly inventory, so they make you walk the lot to find parts because their system says they MIGHT have it, but aren't sure. They don't permit you to pull parts, so you have to wait and let them pull it which can take days. Because of the bad customer service even if they do pull a part, good luck with them actually calling you to let you know they did. I used them once to find an extremely difficult to find body piece for an '89 GMC, that I could not get anywhere, even online. On top of all of these issues, they're ridiculously overpriced. They wanted $275 for a used, damaged, non-color matched hood for a car when I could order a brand new one, with shipping for $300 that was paint ready and pristine. Needless to say they didn't get anything from me. I can't stress enough that no one should use these guys. They're just here to prey on people that aren't smart enough to know better or are desperate to find a part.

I was looking for a door; the guy there told me he had one in great shape; when I got there the door was rusted from the inside out with the inner panel peeling back from the rust; this guy wanted to charge me 40% of the $250 part for pulling it off the vehicle. I refused to pay that much I gave this guy $45 for lying to me about the condition of the door and taking 3 hours of my day to drive out there to find out the door was junk. He also will not share pictures of parts; Opportunist in wait is how I describe this business and it's practices. Questionable moral values. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! BUYER BEWARE!

I will never do business with this company ever. Did a search of parts for car, and with car broken down, a friend elected to drive out there to get the part. Emailing them over a week prior, they said nothing about needing to take any parts out of any vehicles they stated numerous times on the phone and by email that they had the alternator in stock, My friend arrives on Saturday only to find out the part was not the right one and the staff even after hearing that this was our only hope, flat out refused to allow him to take the part or have one of their staff do it. They told him to get on a waiting list and they may have got to it by next week. Our friend had no choice but to come back to Anchorage without a part I have never seen such disgusting customer service in my life and I am shocked by their unwillingness to help when we have basically no money to afford a brand new one and they were all we could afford. I know companies have policies in place to protect their liability but after all this is still Alaska and we are used to strangers helping strangers in times of need I guess the workers at Knik Salvage are too busy and forgot where they live.

Don't bother wasting you time at this place of business. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone... Horrible customer service you are treated as if your an inconvenience to deal with. Extremely unorganized. The prices are super high for used parts. They will have multiples of the same item your looking for and try to give you the most beat up one first. Worst experience I've ever had a salvage yard.
- EEdie Barrett
They had the parts I needed. I could not find the parts elsewhere for a 1984 van. I asked questions about how to instal the windows myself. They answered all my questions and were thorough. I recommend them because they were efficient and they know what parts they have in stock. I did not need to wait long. I installed the windows like they told me and I am very pleased.
- KKristy Allain
There the only place that had the alternator I needed (used). I got there just in the nick-of-time. But they were still personable, they didn't try to rush me out the door or anything like that. The guy I talked to knew his stuff. All a round it made up for the drive out there. Not to mention the $ you can't beat it.
- jjonathan bell
These dudes are great. They had a part for a Saturn that no one else in town had, charged half the price everyone else was asking, and they do a military discount. Friendly and quick service. Would reccomend to anyone.
- rrichard gish
Good place to go for used parts. Only place that had the part I needed. Friendly customer service. Seem to know what's going on with most parts. Will back up part of wrong. Just got to give them a chance or they will return money. No question asked.
- MMark Scudder
Price was fair, people were great. Used engine runs like a champ. They even trusted me to bring back core without charge. Which i did. I wouldn't hesitate buying from them again.😁😁
- SShaun S
Was just told it would take 3 weeks to pull a tail light off a vehicle. It's faster to have one shipped from the lower 48. Come on guys, it's two screws and 5 minutes of time. Very disappointing.
- TTony W
Make sure you know what parts you order before you pay as they have a 40% restocking fee!
- DDom G
They got parts but better check your prices, only salvage yard you cant pull your own parts from that ive ever been to. Wont sell parts, only full pieces so if you need a blinker, chances are you'll have to buy a full bumper. Old guys behind the counter made the visit about 3 times longer than it should've been from not listening to what I was saying, then gave me a vauge description of where to find the cars. 1 week pull time for any parts not on the shelf.
- SShawn Knox
Make sure they have the right paperwork for you before you leave. I got 2 different invoices for the same motor I bought then I returned it cause I got 2 different answers.
- LLinda Fordham
Talk to the guys behind the counter...... They know the business! David is working the desk up stairs! Out of sight and ALWAYS listening! He don't miss a trick! Best DEALS for hundreds of miles! If they don't have it ...you DON'T need it !
- kkenneth widmer
They are the worst salvage yard in Alaska. I needed a lift gate for a Ford Explorer, I called and they said they had 4 good ones. I drove twenty miles to Knik Salvage to look at the the lift gates and pay them. They told me where they were supposed to be in the yard. I searched for 40 minutes and only found one and it was totally wrecked. I went back inside and told them I wasn't able to locate any, other than the one which had severe damage. I told them I wanted to buy a good one if they would show me where they were at.....their response was that I should go back out and look some more, but don't take too long, we close in 45 minutes.
- WWill N
I posted a review for the wrong yard. These guys are awesome. Takes a while to get a pull because they are so busy, but it's worth the wait.
- MMatt Brewer
Listen! These guys work hard and are VERY busy on Saturdays. Make sure to bring your core exchange if you need it. Make sure you do your research beforehand so you know EXACTLY what you need. Give yourself and extra thirty minutes to an hour to get your part. This is just the way it is when doing business with a wrecking yard. Thanks guys!
