By far, is this the best Salvage yard in the area! Didn’t catch his name- but he answered the phone when I called asking about a battery, and he was helpful. When I arrived he pointed me in the right direction to get a battery. Affordable in price for used items. They don’t take junk!

Basic junkyard. Nice guy at front desk and on phone. Got a used rim and they gave me the tire that came with it to for no extra charge. Recommend calling first for part you need instead of showing up and expecting everything to be fast. They need time to go look in their yard sometimes. All in all good place

I visited Schmidt’s Auto Salvage this past weekend to pick up a trunk lid for my project car. I actually found it on Facebook. Whoever I was taking to was very nice and got back to me quickly. When I picked my part up the gentleman at the front desk got me my part, which they picked off the car for me. I paid and was out of there under 10 minutes. They located the country and it’s a beautiful drive to pick up you car parts. Thanks for the help!!

I've never seen a junkyard that's so primadonna about what they will and won't accept. Most employees are pretty rude when you call, they won't pay you for metal scrap anymore (ex: car exhaust), and they no longer allow you to come in and take parts off wrecked cars in the lot. But hey, your demo cars are pretty cool.. so i'll give you 2 stars

Selection seemed fine. Staff seemed pretty friendly. Wanted $20 for a somewhat damaged fender liner. A new fender liner (non-OEM) is $8.18 for a left and $10.34 for a right from RockAuto. I'll be ordering it from them.

Had a wonderful experience purchasing an engine here. The people at the desk were nice, the pricing was excellent and the process was seamless/quick. John in the garage was extremely knowledgeable & helpful as well. ☺️

I've been buying parts from here for well over 20 years. The owner, Mike, is a super nice guy, as are most of the employees. If you need to get a part off a car that you can't access, they will come out and move cars around to help you out. Sometimes they'll even help get the part off in such a circumstance. However, you can also just request that they get the part in the first place. This usually raises the price by $5-$50, depending on the part. The more expensive/harder to remove parts will cost a little more. All their prices are reasonable though and sometimes negotiable a little bit. They don't haggle but if you're a few bucks short and you're really polite and kind, they MIGHT let a few bucks slide. In addition, if you buy a mechanical or electrical part, such as a heater blower motor, and it doesn't work, you have 7 days to exchange it for another one. Don't try to be slick though- they mark their parts and they'll know if you're trying to bring in a part that they didn't sell you. I highly recommend this particular company because they've never done me wrong, have a huge variety of parts from many, many years, makes, and models. And if you're lucky, you may even get a little hello from a kitty. I didn't see any the last two times I was there, but usually there are cats roaming around or hiding. They feed and take care of them and in return, the cats provide pest control. That's another reason I love this place. I'm a huge cat lover and they care for some so I automatically appreciate and respect them more. 🙂😻

I think this place needs more friendly people, if that’s not that case maybe put the discrimination to a side? If that’s not the case, I hope your days get better. My husband and son came to this place and they got no service at all. No greeting whatsoever and the guy that was working, didn’t even bother to ask if they needed help. I have friends, family, mechanics that have come here to buy parts for years. Never had this happen before. If this kind of service or behavior continues to go on, I will be putting a complaint against this company. Better Business bureau (BBB) will be expecting that from me. Hopefully I won’t have to do that.

These guys rock, they talk car speak, unlike O'Reilly, parts I need always there. John and Mark and crew are professional and speak it to non car peeps in layman terms. Need a part or all the parts for what ever reason go see these guys. For a car guy this is Disney land..

Kid who works in the front office is super arrogant and clearly doesn't care about customers. Talks on the phone like every call is a hassle. We paid for parts upfront on Friday and came to pick them up today (Monday) only to wait 30+ minutes for him to pretend like he didn't know where one of the parts was. Smh it's people like this who give decent companies a bad reputation. Perhaps he needs to take a lesson from Hank Williams Jr. by getting an attitude adjustment 😉

Needed parts for my Regal GS, Luckily they had 2 there in excellent condition so I was able to find all the parts I need. The yard is very organized. Prices are fair, I got a $140 taillight assembly for $35. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for good quality parts and fast service

Great customer service, very friendly, very time consuming. I highly recommend going here for all your used car part needs! Got parts for my 2013 Chrysler 300, very affordable, great prices and same day service. 5 Stars from me. P.S. saved me 900.00 on my parts

Definitely not bad for getting certain replacement parts that would otherwise be very costly.... Deals fairly. The only real trouble is finding the cars you need. There is definitely a loose organizational scheme, and cars are generally grouped together fairly well. They are just not always the most accessible. If you really need something though, you can sometimes ask them to move things around with the equipment.

Very lovely lot. Workers were very nice and provided all the help I needed. All the cars of my model were grouped together, so it was easy to find with some pointing around. Will come back should I need anything else.

Called online asked if they were a salvage yard, was told yes. Arrived 20 minute drive later to be told it’s not, they recommended another “salvage yard” they knew “for sure” was one, called them and what do ya know, they weren’t either.

What a neat place. I needed a random piece of a car and the nice young gentleman there helped me search for the exact part I needed. He did some cutting to make sure the piece was small enough to carry and put in my car, and everyone else seemed friendly. I had a tough time describing what I needed because I don't know what all the parts of a car are called, but they figured it out!

I called earlier in the day to see if they had a party available they were easy to talk to and said they could have the part pulled before I got there.. called around 4 to see if they had the part taken off so I could pay and pick up and they then told me they don’t pull part till customer is there and part is paid for and hung up right away…

Called about a tire size and they made me wait 5 minutes on hold just to tell me, “we can’t help you right now”. Terrible customer service and incompetency. Just go to gaugers salvage in Arena, Wi.

Friendly group of guys there. Constantly see people complaining about bad parts on here. It's a junkyard people, you're gonna take a risk on if the part is good or not. If you want to be 100% sure the part will work then buy new. Love that cash gets you a cheaper price and that I can go and pull the part I need myself.

As one of the few remaining salvage scrap yards left in Wisconsin, this one does allow you to walk thru to search for your part, (plan for a field trip) there is definitely treasures here and a nice assortment of old makes and models galore ! All the crew are always very informative and helpful, Special "Thanks" to Mark for getting the wheel off that mid-90s Dodge mini van so quick today, I myself didn't really want to tackle it, so I'm glad I asked. Thank You to all and I'll be looking forward to the next year and doing more business💯✔👍!

Made a quick stop and was impressed by the environmental mess. Everything it's organized by make and I found the part I wanted. However, my tools couldn't break the bolt and I'd cut myself on something. You'll step over and around puddles, weeds, shattered glass and an assortment of metal and plastic.

Wide selection of cars and well-organized, but triple-check the prices before you drive all the way out to the yard. I was quoted a price over the phone that was higher once I got there. Prices can also strangely be higher at the yard than at their inventoried store in Madison. Each location blames the other for any mistakes and says they're not responsible.

My husband goes here all the time. He always leaves with what he was looking for and then some more... so im assuming its a good place my husband speaks highly of some of the guys that work there occationally a few can be rude (but then again we all have our days)

This place is a joke. I told I needed a couple parts and they let us go find them. We found a couple extra things we ended up finding and needing and when we got up front they were mad cause we grabbed more than needed and took those away I honestly don’t ever consider coming back after that. Not to mention they’re not very nice through the phone either

went here just to look around and to see what was up. i'm Mexican and the guys that work here look like the type of guys to beat me up because of my skin color. nope they were pretty nice to me. the vending machine even ate my $1 and i thought they would question me but nope just handed me another $1 and said try again. i probably will be buying my parts for my 1998 ford explorer here.

As of Friday, October 21st Schmidt’s Auto Inc Salvage Yard does not allow people into the junk yard anymore. It’s upsetting because they don’t list does details on the website. Has anyone been denied from going inside the gunk yard?
