Customer Beware – Val-U Auto Towing (Conklin & Owego Locations) This review is regarding Val-U Auto Towing, located at 688 Conklin Avenue, Conklin, NY and 113 Southside Dr, Owego, NY. On February 19th, one of our drivers became stuck in the snow and needed a pull-out tow. After attempting to contact multiple companies without success, a responding deputy/sheriff on scene contacted Val-U Auto Towing, stating they were next in the rotation for towing services. Before service began, our driver specifically asked about pricing and was told the cost shouldn't be more than $1,500 to $2000, and that this type of recovery was very common. What happened next was unacceptable; Clearly extortion, Insurance fraud and or price gauging The first tow truck arrived and became stuck while attempting the recovery. A second tow truck was dispatched to pull out the first truck. After more than five hours, they were finally able to pull our work truck out. When our driver asked where to settle the invoice so he could proceed with his day, he was informed that the vehicle was being taken to the tow yard/impound and that the “owner would have to determine billing.” After additional waiting at their facility, we were presented with an invoice for $21,000. This is an outrageous and unjustifiable increase from the estimated amount and completely disproportionate to the services rendered. There was no prior authorization for anything remotely close to this amount. We are extremely disappointed in the lack of transparency, the excessive delay, and what appears to be severe price escalation, and possible insurance fraud after the fact. Situations like this damage trust in local service providers. We strongly encourage anyone considering using this company to get written pricing in advance and fully understand all terms before allowing service. We are currently reviewing our options moving forward, plan to involve the Local News Media, have contacted the Attorney General and the BBB

If I could give this company negative 5 stars I would, our family got a flat 5hrs from our home in Boston. We had an opportunity to get to a local auto shop to get a new tire and they gave us Val-u’s contact. I filled out the online form and 2hrs later called to let them know the auto shop was closing in a hr the dispatch lady said she would try to find out where they were. Another hour later the shop is closed no tire now and an overnight stay at a hotel. When we called back the tow company the dispatcher called my husband us a dumb ass for apparently not knowing that no tow company picks up at hwy service station. We called another company and funny how they were here in 30 min no issue regarding location, which would have saved us the cost of an overnight hotel stay. The dispatcher was rude, called us names kept pausing the call and then hung up on us when we asked for the owners name and her name. Whatever you do DO NOT use this towing company they are the worst and their dispatch women should be FIRED immediately!!!!

Only giving 1 star to write a review. These people need to get it together. They don't communicate and don't listen. I've been waiting on a tow for over 6 hours. Unacceptable when I called at 1130 am. The weather is not a factor it's just cold. Last time they sent 5 different trucks and a few refused not even trying. If this wasn't paid for by my insurance I'd definitely use someone else. I mean I could've pushed the car to the shop by now. They also didn't come with the right truck or at the time agreed upon. I just called for an update to hear some man screaming at the girl answering the phone. DO BETTER!! People have lives and jobs to go to and don't want to sit around all day because your company doesn't run well. Never again I'll pay for my own tows. This company should be a negative 10 for rating. Glad I'm not on the side of the road in danger. DON'T USE THEM
