Recently we took our car to Overall Automotive in Poplar Grove for an oil change and tire rotation.  They seemed very nice.  Several days later we drove the car 200 miles to central Illinois.  We stopped about half way to get gas.  But upon arriving at the town of our destination, the car started smelling like burning oil.  When we pulled off the road, checked the oil, it was empty.  We had the car towed to a local automotive repair shop and they said the gasket on the oil filter was incorrectly installed.  After showing the diagnosis from the repair shop to three other qualified mechanics they all confirmed, the gasket was in the incorrect place. When we went back to Overall Automotive the owner’s wife was sympathetic to what we had gone through.  We provided invoices, photos and diagnostic report of what was wrong with our car.  Several days later we stopped back at Overall Automotive and the owner said they did nothing wrong, that it was impossible to place the gasket in the incorrect place.  Despite three other mechanics confirming the same thing, Overall Automotive refused any monetary reimbursement nor an apology. Overall Automotive does not stand by their work, are incompetent and only care about money and not their customers.  Don’t waste your time or money going there. They could destroy your car!

Overall Automotive has worked on 2 of my vehicles a few times over the years, and service was great and parts were fixed well and timely. However, I recently brought my vehicle in because something was misfiring with the transmission or possibly a bad belt. The rpms were shooting up when hardly accelerating and there was a whining noise under the hood. Overall Auto looked at it, drove it, and told me nothing was wrong. The sound I hear is the transmission pump wear and tear because of the age/mileage of my vehicle. He said that most trucks’ transmissions just sound like that when their mileage gets up there (138,000). The belts all look good, no cracks. He told me it’s all good, and sent me on my way. It didn’t sit right with me; something was definitely wrong. Fast forward to the next morning while I was driving to a mechanic I trust who’s a little further away for a second opinion, and my car stops accelerating, rpms shooting up, loud whining noise, engine light comes on. My car had power but would not accelerate, and I had to call a tow. I feel this could have been prevented with a more thorough inspection. I am so disappointed in the lack of service from Overall Automotive. I would highly suggest going to another mechanic before taking your vehicle there.

Very unwelcoming. Lazy. And non costumer centric. They just seemed like they didn’t want to talk to me. Tried to buy coolant and they didn’t even tell me if I had the right one. Got an I don’t know. I would not recommend going to these guys they seem unknowledgeable and and seem to care more about getting on with their weekend, instead of helping me when I was really in trouble. Highly unrecommended.
