i was so tired of wandering around big-box hardware stores where no one has a clue about carpentry or the right tools for the job. The staff here actually know their stuff—whether it’s woodworking, building things, or finding the exact part you need, they always know the best way of getting it done. It’s rare to find a place where the employees are both knowledgeable and genuinely eager to help. Beckerly is my go-to for anything DIY or professional projects—couldn’t recommend it more!

Try this at Home Depot: I went over to Rockland county, New York, to help an 86 year old lady friend install a new mailbox. It sounds easier than it is, as hers was attached to 2 metal pipes, sitting in between other mailboxes. Rusty bolts and all that. Just getting the ancient one off was a task. After planning and measuring, we went to a neighborhood hardware store and bought a mailbox, but it turned out that they did not sell the wood we needed for the base. So we went to Beckerle in Congers. The man behind the counter treated my friend so kindly. He went to the back and found an old scrap piece of wood that fit under the mailbox. Plus, he helped me source the big screws and washers. He spent good long time with us to assure that we had what we needed, patiently and extraordinarily helpful. All that for $1.98. It was good old-fashioned service with a smile. I was impressed that there are still stores like this where customer service is top level, even if the actual profit is virtually zero. This place is the best of the best. Shop there!

The people working here are super friendly and helpful. I needed to get some plywood for a DIY project and had 0 clue as to the differences between the different types. I called them up and told the employee that picked up what I was looking to build - he took the time to explain what would be best for my setup as well as why. Also I ended up doing delivery since I couldn't fit the plywood in my SUV. There was a mix up with the address (my fault for not double checking paperwork). Thankfully, instead of just going back to the store, they kept calling me until they were finally able to reach me (because of course my phone was on silent - I only happened to see my phone on their fourth attempt). The driver/delivery person was also very friendly (do you see a theme here with friendly employees :) - he unloaded the plywood to where I asked for it to be placed. Pricing is also at least on par, if not better, than what you would find at the "big name" brands. Between the great pricing and excellent customer service, I will definitely come back here for any future lumber needs.
