Called multiple times for information about drop off. Was told they were open till Noon on Saturday's. What they didn't say is the close the gate early and you have to get there well before Noon. Tried to ask staff at the gate and they wouldn't answer a question just waived off the multiple customers waiting at the gate. Really disappointed. They basically shut the doors early on their customers. Heard good things but wound up having 45 minutes of one way drive time wasted and have to go somewhere else.

I wanted to write a shining review for these guys, always well organized and pricing is fair, definitely paying the best in the area. With all of that being said, this review is straight forward, honest and only MY personal experience. Not intended to take away customers, change anyone's mind about doing business with them, but to forewarn others..their posted hours of operation are in reference to the hours the employees work, not the hours they conduct business! They close the gates EXACTLY 15 minutes before closing time. We drive from Henry County (exactly 35 miles and between 45 and an hour) twice a week for over 3 months, with not one issue. We have always made it in time before say 4 pm everytime so it has never made a difference what time they close. On this past Thursday we hit a bit of traffic and pulled in at gate at exactly 4:15, the had already been closed. The guy at the gate refused to let us in even with the assurance we would be completely unloaded before 4:30(as we only had steel which needed to be off loaded to large create and taken to scale with lift and only 3 crates to weigh). The guy wouldn't ask for a manager and when we called the nice young lady that answered said she would speak with the manager and he refused service. Needless to say we had a 16 foot trailer full of old appliances and had to head back south which cost additional gas, almost caused us to miss another scrap yard and we were left selling our scrap for a fraction of it's true value (about a total loss of over $120- the cost of gas to atlanta and back to henry county and value on scrap $75-$100). The moral of my long winded story, be there well before their posted hours of operation/closing time, continue to do business with Schnitzer regardless of anyone else's personal experience (because they do pay VERY well and finally know that even when others refuse to be kind and do right by you in the simplest act even if it takes an extra 10 minutes out of their day be kind, pass kindness on to someone who may just need a few extra moments of your time, you never know you could change the course of their day, month or even their lives!!?

Great metal recycling yard, very friendly professional people in and out in no time. Use to sell to Encore and Newell not anymore, not to mention this facility is very clean.
