Built between 1809 and 1815 and masterfully designed by Joseph-François Mangin in the Gothic Revival style, the cathedral served as the seat of the Archdiocese of New York until the iconic Midtown St. Patrick’s Cathedral opened in 1879. Walking through its doors truly feels like stepping back in time. What immediately captured my attention was the breathtaking architectural design — the Gothic Revival details are meticulous and awe-inspiring. The interior offers a surprisingly generous and well-organized space, perfect for quiet reflection or prayer.
