When I brought my car into john I needed him to replace my muffler, that's it. He quoted me $50.00 then started work. Thankfully I forgot something in my car so I had to go back and then found out that he needed to do extra work and now it was going to be $150.00. that's fine , it would of been nice to get a call telling me first before he started work again so I'm glad I showed up. I agreed to pay the $150.00 , and he put my muffler on. Next day I go to pick it up, sorry I only deal in cash he says. Well, anyone who knows Sparta, John Edmonds is 20 mins from the closest bank. Thanks for telling me john. I had to leave the car there again overnight because my ride did not have time to make a 40 min round trip to get this cash. Next day, I show up, he's not there. I start the car and the muffler right off the bat, starts rattling like a rattlesnake very very loudly. I call him up, no answer , I text him he says nothing back. Finially when I do get a hold of him, he tells me he will fix it, and to leave the cash on the floor of one of his vehicles...I drive away with my rattle car bc I have no other way of getting to my job that day, and now my car wouldn't shift out of second gear. John welded my muffler on without disconnecting the battery and fried my computer. I told him about this and he said that he would fix it or look at it and he would do whatever he could to make it right, I was happy(ish). So I left the car there on Thursday night. It sat until Sunday night and I went to pick it up after calling all weekend to try to get a hold of him. I had to go to work on Monday that's my only car. I pick it up. Still rattling. Call him again. Sorry I didn't get a chance to get to it, I don't work on weekends. So, you break my car , do bad work on the actual thing I paid you for , put me out of work for three days because I didn't have a car and you can't take 20 minutes on a Friday, or a Saturday or a Sunday to rack my car and put bumbers on it so it doesn't rattle AT LEAST?? So I had to pick it monday, and take it to work only driving 35mph from Sparta to Cookeville with the muffler rattling so loud I couldn't barely hear the radio. I went to drop it off again last night and he was there. My boyfriend helped me drop it off and went to talk to John. John then proceeded to tell us that he's not liable for the computer being burnt out. Not his problem . Sorry. And then when we ask for our money back he starts to bump chests with my boyfriend who is literially a foot and a half shorter than john starts calling me a bit*** yelling mad cussing causing a huge scene I had to start video because I was afraid of this dude laying hands on us he was bad bad bad because we asked him to at LEAST fix the rattle on the car IT WOULD TAKE 15 MINUTES. he throws the money at us cusses us up and down accuses us of stealing his work tells us that was our plan all along. Basically I will never go to another shade tree mechanic again because of him. This was the worst business experience I've ever had. I called the police, and they even said he was liable for the repairs because he broke it. John said my transmission was acting up before that. But then admitted to never even test driving the car after he put the muffler on. Surely he heard the rattle when he started it. He just didn't care. He thought I was some dumb woman who didn't know anything and went to take advantage of me by doing cruddy work. When my boyfriend went to talk to him john got physical with him . I will be pressing charges against this man. He ruined my car, told me 'its not my problem' and then got physical with us when we asked him to fix even his own work. Update: my father came up from Florida , looked at my muffler(he's an amazing mechanic) says there's a pipe coming off my motor small enough for a motorcycle. Basically, it's over an inch to small causing a lot of backpressure on my poor car. So John didn't even use the correct size pipe. And my new computer cost me $300.00. Thanks John.
