I grew up a few blocks from "the ark" as we call it. I was told the dude was a welder and tried to sell this thing to the navy. Others say it was his version of Noah's ark. Ultimately as a roadtripper myself I'd say its not something dlto go out your way for but if you got 20 minutes to kill check it out. To those of us from colonial heights its a local legend.

I'm amazed this is still out there. My father and I would always drive by when I was a child and check on the progress. We had fun coming up with theories and stories of why it was built, and why it's still there... Nothing has changed over the decades, except maybe the paint, and the pilot house is gone... but here it is still.. In all it's amazing quirkiness.
